My network is total cr*p and i would like run my own dedicated server. Can i run server without internet if i already have run it with internet. I do not want spear to my a** but i like to build. That is why.
You can run a server on your own computer, or on a different computer at home.
But i have only one PC and i connect to internet and run server once. After that if i disconnect from internet can i then run same server again? But i have only one PC and i connect to internet and run server once. After that if i disconnect from internet can i then run same server again?
I run a server at home too, on an not so fast and older notebook, but it has 8GB RAM, and i think it needs it for the rust server. You have to install the rust server on such a second PC/notebook. If you want to install it on your only PC, it should have at least 24 GB of RAM, i assume, and 6 Core CPU also. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Rust_Dedicated_Server
It would be singleplayer and could i play it with no internet?
The Server Install downloads about 4GB of software, probably compressed to 2GB while downloading, and therefore you need an internet connection. After that, you can connect local LAN only to the server, but you always need internet connection for server and client updates and check at the start of software. You can configure your server and internet router that connections from clients over internet are possible too, same as with other rust servers on internet, or from local LAN only (default).
You will ALWAYS need an internet connection. the server/client CANNOT be disconnected & blocked totally from the internet. (intermittent traffic is needed for licensing an anti-cheat, STEAM........bullshit) yep... they STILL monitor ALL servers even private ones... and you need to log into STEAM to enable the rust client to work, server validates against both STEAM & RUST servers. (server licences against your RUST/STEAM ID) The maps even on the server produce GIGGABYTES of information, even though it is NOT all passed to the client, it still needs to be stored. plus it is saved every 10 minutes.. so if you are running a map you have game SW OS saved map running map UPDATES 2*TOTAL SW consumption here is an example of JUST MAP data ... not too bad... -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 61551013 May  7 08:54 proceduralmap.5000.2147.178.map -rw-r--r--. 1 root root  4825852 May  7 09:27 proceduralmap.5000.2147.178.sav as for most of the other "bullshit", if you set the server up correctly with the correct OS #free               total        used        free      shared  buff/cache   available Mem:       16247768      355088    15126016       12012      766664    15530676 Swap:       2097148           0     2097148 16gb allocated to the instance BUT... after 10 minutes 1 client # free               total        used        free      shared  buff/cache   available Mem:       16247768     4884076     7348884       12052     4014808    10991408 Swap:       2097148           0     2097148 we see the complete OS+ RUST is good in about 5-6gb with ZERO swapping. server frame rate is about 236 with 49,000 entities on a CPU that's >10 years old. 4 cores allocated.
I succesfully run server on my pc without internet no need for help anymore, if this ever helped me. Even with oxide
That's strange.... Servers are locked to the steam ID of the admin , which supposedly requires the account to be online, also the "EAC" is needed. Every time I have tried cutting the server off completely it has failed and caused problems... or maybe the win server implementation is just more shitty?
