Being in the military at this time, all I can say is I'm ready for what comes.
Curious as to what exactly these "escalatory actions" are
I want a second fucking opinion from NOT the US
The fuck you talking about, the first article is from the BBC...
I... don't think he was asking for a news article not from the US
They'll think twice about attacking with an entire carrier battlegroup there.

95% chance this “Iranian threat” is either overblown or completely made up.

The difference this time is that we don't have a preceding major event that scares and angers the public (in that case it was 9/11) Without a good reason the public sentiment for this war won't be good.
The US will make something up. Not like they don't have experience.
Iran has enough problems on its borders, you think they'll be dumb enough to take on the US just because of the past?
He added: "The United States is not seeking war with the Iranian regime. But we are fully prepared to respond to any attack, whether by proxy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps or regular Iranian forces." John Bolton has repeatedly expressed desire to go to war with Iran for the last two decades so this is another straight-up lie Also this is the first time I've heard of escalating tensions recently, and even the article takes note of this So far there is little detail from the Americans of the alleged Iranian actions that have prompted this warning nor of the specific US deployments under way. If anything, this is going to be another endless war of attrition, launched to help Trump's reelection prospects. They know he's down in the polls, and wars have always historically helped boost the incumbent because they use it to flex and get the jingo vote.
Haven't you idiots heard of gunboat diplomacy? Jeez guys /s.
https://youtu.be/gTbg11pCwOc Friendly reminder that they want to knock over the entire area and have done for years. And nobody really understands why. Sorry about the source, it's the only copy of the video i could find.
"...Being in the military at this time, all I can say is I'm ready for what comes." No. No you're not. I don't think you realize what would happen if two powerhouse nations like the US and Iran clashed. In Iran's case especially they're fueled by an extreme fanaticism that makes even the most hardcore cults and terror groups look like fucking weekend warriors. The Revolutionary Guard alone would rather watch the world perish before admitting defeat.
Hopefully this de-escalates. I can't imagine it going very well otherwise. Also, I think this is the same story from another post in Polidicks: The US is deploying a carrier and bombers to the Middle East in ..
What kind of result does the US expect from this? Iran can't go toe to toe with the US military's monolithic funding and resources but they're no Iraq. Between fourty years of having to handle their own affairs apart from the western world and a stable government they won't fold over so easily. All this is liable to do is harden anti-western sentiment and give fuel to the fundamentalist hardliners.
Here we go again...
They're not expecting the Iranians to be stupid enough to go to war. This isn't them attempting to invade Iran or anything but simply the US making a show of force to try and prevent the Iranians from fucking with anything American like they did a while ago capturing that US destroyer. While a war would probably be costly for the US, it would most certainly result in the end of the Iranian regime as they know it, no matter which way you slice it. America just has that kind of military power, and so they're hoping that the Iranians aren't stupid enough to actually do anything to provoke war. However, I'm really fucking scared of this because I have no idea what the fuck Donald Trump is going to do. If the Iranians do actually provoke war in some significant way, such as American lives being lost in an unprovoked attack, then there's no doubt in my mind that'd be sufficient casus belli for Trump to try and at least provoke more hostilities if not go to war with them. Presidents who avenge Americans being lost usually get a second term, and I wouldn't be surprised if he and his advisors know this.
Remember kids, when the Russians do it through military exercises and planes it's provocation. When the US moves one of the deadlies machines of destruction in existance next to a country it has been bullying into an economic crisis it's a show of force. (This is not meant against you TornadoAP) There will be a provocation. All it took the last two times was a dude being shot in the streets and a staged radio station shootup. It's the only way trump can save a second term.
This makes sense. Why didn't we engage alongside the Ukrainian military when the Crimean occupation happened? When even news organizations were reporting on straight up Russian forces being moved into Ukraine? It feels like this is picking fights, Iran is not the kind of powerhouse Russia is. We can make this sort of display readily apparent to Iran and still have a pretty good chance of convincing them. And if we don't, then it's just another Middle Eastern conflict provocated (publicly) by the actions of a nationalistic, fanatical government that will quickly end and up those ratings... really either of those scenarios will improve numbers. Being in right now, I don't like the forecast on any of this.
