Is putting a custom gamemode into the DarkRP section a good idea?

Okay this may sound extremely stupid and silly, but I'm doing this because the owner of my community thinks it would be a better solution to draw players to my server instead of having it in it's own section by itself. Our community does have servers for a different custom gamemode with active players for almost 2 years, so he also states that he knows what to do to get players attention. While I don't think thats entirely it, I never got players to stick around enough with my games unlike he did so, I also want to believe he knows what to do as well.

I don't like the idea of putting my own custom gamemode into the DarkRP section. I told him that even if it could be seen by more players, it should be double edged sword. If more players did join the server, surely a lot of them would leave once they realized it isn't DarkRP at all, right? In fact, its an entirely different gamemode, it has nothing to do with roleplay.

His argument is since my gamemode relies on vehicles and races are a part of it (i'm not trying to get too detailed about this), and a lot of DarkRP players "like cars", they might want to look for a server with a good racing system. My reply was that even if, it still is not DarkRP and thats false information no matter how you look at it.

Okay, so lets assume I did do this then, would this technically be against anything written for Garry's Mod? I know if Gmod devs believe a server is doing something wrong, they can blacklist them. It's another reason why I don't feel good about this.

I've opened this server before in its own section awhile ago but closed it after 2 months due to a lack of players (all my servers were closed for the same reasons). The owner of the community really does not want this to fail.

But I also learned a few issues that were in the gamemode that I could try to fix to further improve the game, but I need a lot more reasons to justify my third attempt with a server because frankly I'm pretty worn out on the repeated loss of my servers. (You'd think if we have a community of players already it would work better but that doesnt work that way)

I'm getting off topic now so. This is a dumb question, so I expect a dumb answer. And if it technically is bad enough to get the attention of Gmod devs, im obviously not going to do it. I just have no reason to believe shoving it in the DarkRP section is any better than a lone section by itself. I'm just asking because even I can't get my own opinion about this by myself.

I think you are in the right about this. Trying to suck players in by subterfuge is never going to work in the long run.

I think it's not, it would definitely lower possible online.
