And of course, they just announced the new trilogy of movies starting alternating years in 2022.
Though they haven't said whos movies they are, but I assume they're Rian's, since his are the only ones that have been called a trilogy so far.
Only three films slated over eight years feels oddly low to me given how they've announced two separate series.
Good to see they're sticking to December for future SW films though, feels like a natural fit for them now.
What a fitting threat title, kudos
Has anyone here watched Resistance? if so is it comparable to season 1 of Clone Wars and Rebels (slow, clearly a kids show, but shows charm)
Curious to know if it's worth watching yet or wait for a potential season 2
IMO it got better faster than Rebels did.
like rebels, second half of the season gets better

I don't get why they had to reimagine it as a Prequel fight, the slow fight really brought weight to the fight
Looks more like a sequel fight to me, the combat has a bit of weight to it. Prequel fights have more gratuitous wand-waving and no dialogue.
Sequel fights, at least what we saw in TFA, had zero finesse; they looked like they were complete tyros blindly swinging like children with sticks. I do agree, however, that the prequel-esque choreography was out of place here. We've never seen suited Vader fight like that.
Vader sorta does fight like that in Rebels, minus the lightsaber throw

And a little bit of that in Rogue One

If they'll be at the helm of the (supposed) new movies set in The Old Republic era, I'm fucking out of here

Iger also said another Star Wars streaming series would hit the Disney+ streaming service, joining The Mandalorian and an untitled prequel to Rogue One, before the 2022 release of the Benioff/Weiss feature. At the film studio, there are now half a dozen Star Wars films in various stages of development, the CEO said. Despite no lack of creative material, the company determined that taking a break after the upcoming release of the concluding ninth installment would make sense, Iger said.
Reflecting on the run since the 2012 acquisition of Lucasfilm, Iger noted that there have now been five Star Wars features released by Disney. “It’s our feeling that we’ve done a good job with those,” he said.
Nevertheless, as the company took stock of the franchise, especially with Disney+ ramping up toward a November launch, the management team felt “it would be smart for us to take a bit of a hiatus while we figure out what’s next,” Iger said. “The conclusion that we reached was that three years was the proper amount of time to not only take a breather and reset, but to really gear up for the next film’s release.”
Basically just restating a lot of what we've already been told really. The third Disney+ series coming pre-2022 gives us more of how they're planning to cover the gap between films though.
I do hope they take this gap as an opportunity to plan out a bigger tale to play out over the next few years, MCU style. Get Dave Filoni on it!
I would prefer more simple trilogies and stand-alones.
The MCU is great, but keeping up with the entire thing as a collective story can be exhausting at times.
At this point, can we just admit that Kathleen K is just fucking CURSED
What's wrong with the Old Republic era? Didn't you say you wanted a change of pace earlier?
I'm not questioning the choice of the adapted material.
I'm questioning the choice of the screen"writers".

The only Skywalker left (that we know of) is Kylo Ren,
Ah, they're starting to get it.
but could the answer be more abstract?
nvm
Here's the TIE Boarding craft from TIE Manual, probably the CG model used in Rogue One.

The cockpit section looks like it's taken straight off the TIE Striker., complete with the extra guns underneath.

Neat way of making it look a little different from the bomber.
Also I compared this Boarding craft to that TIE Bomber hologram in TLJ... That wasn't a TIE Bomber, it was a boarding craft, the boarding pod matches this render here.
I never noticed this before, there is a Star Destroyer hangar on the Death Star in Rogue One.

It's insane how much detail they put into the Rogue One models while still making them feel like miniatures.
the lighting in the battle over Scarif really helped the Star Destroyers.
