The wait is nearly over: Tool‘s long-awaited new album will be released on August 30th, 2019.
The band confirmed the news during their concert in Birmingham, Alabama on Tuesday night. According to fans on the ground, a video screen flashed the date “August 30th” during the set’s intermission. Frontman Maynard James Keenan then encouraged fans to share the news via social media, saying, “Alright everyone take out your phones, security stand down and let these fuckers do whatever it is with their phones.”
I'm not really excited for it tbh. I'll still listen to it.
Hope I can make it to then.
Why wouldn't you?

My sister must be thrilled. She was at this show last night.
So are you saying that one second before dying your skull is in danger of exploding from an ecstatic spontaneous orgasm?
I'm excited. They premiered 2 new songs on Sunday and now this. It's been a good week for tool fans
Why is tool never anywhere online? Do they hate the internet or something?
Yeah, kind of. And for good reason.
DId they get ultra owned by pirates?
Maynard, and all his associated projects are shrouded in secrecy becaues he hates the media, or public, or popularity in general.
He leaves his shows through backdoors so he doesn't have to deal with fans.
He's kind of an asshole in that sense, but he also just really likes not having people invade his space, or know him intimately.
So it's kind of like the irony of Till Lindemann from Rammstein being very crowd shy.
Kind of.
Just amped up a few notches.
jesus christ finally
I don't think that makes him an asshole. It sounds quite reasonable to me.
Unless you let atleast 100 people suck your dick as a popular musical artist IMMEDIATELY after the live performance you are an IRREDEEMABLE asshole. Brand new attachable dick not included.
Maynard has social anxiety issues and anxiety issues in general, and he doesn't like being in social situations. He's also a conspiracist in regards to the chinese gubment, which has been proven correct in most instances.
(and also objects to the lacking compensation Spotify has for recording artists, as well as that of other streaming services in general, while additionally being part of the camp of artists that just aren't interested in having their music presented in that format)
Maynard's perspectives trigger a strange paradoxical reaction in me of hating and loving them simultaneously, it's strange. I rarely feel such an even divide between liking and disliking something.
I guess you could call it a schism, huh
