I liked some of the things that it did, but I feel like adding in some of the prequel quotes and the fancy force moves sort of ruined it, should have purely been a lightsaber duel.
Can people not do duels without fucking shakey cam now?
I honestly liked it, but the callbacks to ROTS was a little weird but not total mood killers. It was always enforced that while the suit held Vader back, he still had some killer swings and counters that rivaled the Jedi in their heyday because of the cybernetic limbs which the video puts into well. Vader was also relentless, he barely gave Kenobi a chance to get a swing in, but each one made it count to keep Vader at bay. It's not too over the top as the prequels, but it does give the feeling if A New Hope had better Lightsaber props and better choreography then 'old men tap sticks until Kenobi gives up'. Vader using the force is just him tossing boxes in ESB so he was never a fair fighter to begin with. I think some of the angles made some Force scenes look off like when Vader pushes Kenobi to a wall and the wall breaking looked a but cheap. For a fan project with scenes from the original film there is some nice blending of the two. It's not like Lucas stepped in and went "Now I wish there was more flipping and angst-y dialogue", for a fan recreation of the classic duel it's really well done. But that's just me still being a SW fan talking.
Bit cheesy at parts, but I liked the overall idea. Vader just stomping around in Obi-Wan's robe was p hilarious tho
I think Rebels overall is a not great show but Obi Wan vs Maul is still one of my favorite scenes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no4SxdIIDBE
I actually liked it a lot there. It got a bit too forceful in the middle. Maybe tone down the heaviness of the swings, remove the forcethrow in the middle and put more effort towards showing Kenobi being old, but leaning on the force to help him physically withstand and deliver attacks.
That was still in the original film I believe, weird that part was redone where it was just Vader checking to see if this wasn't another Jedi trick. Could be worse; could have been Vader fighting Obi wan's freaking spirit form.
It's so weird that for something that a lot of effort clearly went into the cinematography would be so subpar and all over the place.
Shaky cam hides the crappy CGI.
No clue why people praise this show. It's some of the least weighty, sub-par floaty animation I've ever seen in a 3d series.
