Pence argued to supporters at an event hosted by the conservative Federalist Society that the Trump administration has been “unfairly” targeted by injunctions issued by lower courts. The vice president said that in the coming days, administration officials will seek pathways to put the issue before the Supreme Court. “So I say to all those gathered here, for the sake of our liberty, our security, our prosperity and the separation of powers, this era of judicial activism must come to an end,” Pence said. “The Supreme Court of the United States must clarify that district judges can decide no more than the cases before them.”
what dimension of chess is it to pack the courts with extreme far-right judges and then challenge the ability of judges to make injunctions?
They're tearing the whole country's justice system down to protect one guy.
But hey, they're the party of "Law and Order" right? ;)
Looks like Trump's officials are also celebrating the 10th anniversary of Minecraft, with the amount of holes they are trying to dig in the legal system...
This is usually how dictators start the ascent to authoritarianism. They violate numerous laws but avoid prosecution since there are rules that prevent their prosecution while in power (e.g. DOJ rule that prevents a sitting present from being indicted). At the same time, they push their power to its limits by doing everything they can to remain in power (so they can continue dodging prosecution). See: Julius Caesar, Adolf Hitler. I'm surprised that so many people are willing to protect Trump because he doesn't hesitate to throw his allies under the bus to protect himself.
No one stepped up and acted as a check on Trump's bullshit for the past two years. If Trump goes down, the question becomes why someone didn't do something sooner, so the entire GOP is content to just roll over and let Trump do whatever. This is as much about protecting their asses as it is protecting his.
No they're not They're doing their absolute goddamndest to make it look like it's all for the sake of one guy because then they can blame it all on him to try and scuttle out from under the consequences, paint him as the bad apple that ruined the poor innocent bunch But the writing is on the wall. They are 100% complicit, and they're closing ranks around Tinyhands because if Tinyhands goes down, the rest of them are at risk of facing consequences for their criminal activities
Checks and balances don't exist in Trump's America.
Why the fuck would FEDERAL courts not be able to issue nationwide injunctions? They are literally national fucking courts you dribbling fucking retard. Quit trying to run our fucking republic into the ground so you can earn a couple extra dollars in the short term.
