Pelosi won't immediately have the whole House vote on holding Barr in contempt - Polidicks

https://apnews.com/6452821a87fa47e5860035891d4c1bc6 House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says the House isn’t rushing into a vote on holding Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress for not providing special counsel Robert Mueller’s full report on his Russia investigation. The California Democrat told reporters Thursday she’ll follow a methodical process, saying, “We won’t go any faster than the facts take us or any slower than the facts take us.” Pelosi spoke at her weekly news conference a day after the Democrat-led House Judiciary Committee approved a contempt citation against Barr for failing to comply with a subpoena for the full report and underlying evidence. Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler said the House will vote on the contempt citation “soon,” but said the date is still to be determined. Pelosi said she is waiting for other developments, including whether Mueller testifies to Nadler’s committee.

She's trying to play the long game to save face/political power, but I hope it doesn't turn out to be too late when something is done. I'm afraid it already is too late.

What facts are in question? Has Barr handed over the fucking documents? No? He's in fucking contempt.

We hope you'll remember us in 2020 when the GOP mops the floor with Joe Biden's dopey ass and we implore you once again to muster enough indignation to donate to the DNC.

I don't like that she's dragging her feet, but she has reasons. Eric Holder, Obama's Attorney General, was held in contempt of a republican congress. Nothing ever came of it. If the Dems open the "Sergeant at Arms" box, then that's basically opening another legally dubious box which helps the Dems today, but hurts them when they hold office next.

The GOP will do it regardless. People need to stop giving this Pandora's Box, tit-for-tat, excuse for inaction. The only way to fight the GOP know is ruthlessness. Hurt them first, knock them down, and pin them there until they choke.

Not one democrat is going to do that though.

She's just going to milk the shit out of Trump burning the place to the ground in hopes of aiding whatever Democrat takes the nomination in 2020. Except she forgets that by then Trump will have burned the whole place to the ground.

The only logic I have heard about why she's acting... well, like this, is because a failed impeachment might only embrodien Trump's fanbase. Still taking fifty steps back here, woulden't you still want to try and discredit the dude?

And people were wondering why Democrats didn't like pelosi. She's fucking useless.

As far as Barr specifically, I imagine the thinking is, if they do a contempt of Congress, they refer it to the DOJ, and the DOJ does nothing, revealing the House as toothless. Also, if they send the Sgt.-at-arms out after him... well, things get messy if his security decides to defend him, etc. But at the same time, if they do nothing, they look just as toothless by default. I don't know, I think Pelosi is trying to walk softly and carry a big stick, except she also doesn't want to use the stick.

Which is a little weird to me because in taking half measures and dragging their feet they're emboldening the fucking GOP and letting them saw away at the actual foundations of the United States as a democratic nation and allowing them to press more and more towards full on oligarchy, and their apparent toothlessness is already emboldening the GOP core base so the rest of us are kinda left wondering what the fuck

Fuck right off. This shouldn't be played like some kind of political chess game. He is refusing to comply and he's breaking the law. Hold him in contempt and arrest him.
