Dystopia is one of the best sourcemods out there, it's a shame it's practically dead these days. Interested to see what this is on about, but this teaser and the site don't tell us much
I wonder, are they just using the Dystopia assets in their trailer to remind people of their roots, or is this going to be in Source Engine too?
It's going to be UE4, so those snippets of Dystopia is just there for a reminder/tease. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/58209/c58499a3-fc3c-4636-b01b-ceb8e000f7a0/image.png
thank christ. would've been a waste on source.
I was honestly going to make a post wondering why the fuck they'd be using Source engine still, so it's good to see that would have been a waste of time, definitely better being on UE4.
Oh, bitch yes. Dystopia was one of my favorite Source mods; the amount of creativity that went into it and what they were able to get out of the Source engine (and what was for a good while the original '04 branch, no less) was damn impressive. Dual-world gameplay, multiple render targets for dynamic cameras on in-game screens, being able to put fully-interactive 2D interfaces on said screens, a bunch of creative weapons, Metroid Prime-esque visors to view the world in different ways, and a pretty in-depth implant system. Really excited to see what they can pull off with UE4.
They better have the gravity fuckery in decking.

I always remember Dystopia as that awesome semi-class based game where you could have cool stuff like cloaking devices, thermal vision and stuff, and then I remember the decking part where you had to go in some whacky VR/digital zone that had weird physics, and then I'm like "oh yeah... and that". I always avoided that part like the plague. I'd rather play a heavy with a sound triangulator and just punch cocky stealthers out of thin air. Now that was fun.
