Heretic. I mean, we're not really talking about actual bread anyway, but I never got why people hate the crust in sandwich bread. That's what gives it most of the taste. Sandwich bread already tastes bland to begin with so I don't get why you'd make that even worse.

How can this happen? I was led to believe most production lines package the bread almost immediately after slicing. Either she is bull shitting or someone somewhere on the factory has a poor sense of humour. (Where did these bread ends come from? how many loafs did they tamper with?)
I would gladly pay for a bag full of endcaps. Crusts have great flavour, and they are amazing for grilled cheese sandwiches and stuffed melts. Things like spinach and mushrooms tend to release lots of moisture when heated, and the greater structural integrity of endcaps are excellent to counter that. You are one lucky person lady.
I fear the bread industry has already covered this incident up. The truth is as good as gone.

That title confused the shit out of me, then it turns out it wasn't an actual loaf, but pre-sliced and packaged bread. We call this type of bread "toast" around here.
It can't be toast if it's not even toasted yet.

"Bread crust" is the outer brown part of the bread slice, thought she got a hollow loaf for a moment. Around here we call that part the heel. Or when more humorous, the butt of the loaf.

The crusty bits are very good if you want to make cheese on toast, their slight bevel helps stop the cheese oozing over the side.

how practical would it be for a factory to make a setup that deliberately stuffs a bag with crusts?

Great now you made me think of someone accidentally getting chocolate covered icecream that was just a solid brick of chocolate on a stick.
You can buy loaves of bread without the heels (no idea why, you're paying for less bread at that point), a company that does that could probably sell just heels. Market them like burger buns.
Is there anyone out there who sells bread without any crusts anywhere at all as just a completely naked soft loaf and also sells a loaf that is crust all the way through?
That would require a specialised de-crusting machine. You can't apply too much pressure to the internal bread or it'll be crushed, but you also need to follow the edge between the crust and the soft innards, which is uneven in the squarest of breads.
