I've waited years for this game since playing the alpha they released, I don't think waiting a little longer will bother me as much as the other Epic exclusives. Fucking sucks for any of the Fig backers since the campaign promised PC, Mac and Linux release through Steam.

I hope you are aware that they are shitposting a lot on their twitter, that 9 sales tweet was just a joke. Epic taking crowdfunding projects its probably the lowest of all their grabs. People fund a game with their money, game goes through time in development and before people finally get the game (and most of what they were promised) they just fuck over almost every backer and the sole reason why the game exists in the first place. Not 100% if this game directly promised a steam key but Epic has done it for that other game where the dev even boasted how they could refund all backers and still make a profit. I hope people get their refund, although it seems like they should have probably gotten it a while ago with those delays and other broken promises. Their blog entry is pretty cute by the way, you can read how they just use the most generic PR lingo despite it all being just bullshit.

Except for the fact that I'm not defending epic. At all. Literally all I'm doing in these threads is addressing hyperbole and pointing out that platform exclusivity doesn't morally justify pirating. I'm not sorry that not feeding into the bandwagon gets your panties in a twist, but that's literally not what the developer said, so I'm going to point that out.

Tell that to the Linux players and the people that can't access to the Epic Games Store or the regional pricing isn't available on their country. Also some people doesn't want to support these kind to anti-consumer crap, so yeah, maybe they "can", but they don't wanna do it. If you need a reason to hate Epic and understand why people say these kind of things, I invite you and everyone who gonna post "Why are so angry about another launcher?" to read the past dozen of threads about the matter.

The same paper thin justification could be made for literally anything justifying piracy. Having to use the EGS kinds sucks but it's not some egredious violation of consumer rights. Exclusive distribution is extremely common, especially with media. This is like the whole thing with consoles, but instead of having to get a 400 dollar box, you just have to use freeware you would rather not use. Again. It's not ideal that it is how it is. I don't like the EGS at all. But you don't get to hold the moral high ground in this if you're also pirating the titles.

You have some answers to address too, maybe you can set a good example and show us how to do it. These developers/publishers doesn't care about morals, they care about profits. Why we need to treat them like innocent puppies when they fuck us? I don't think that pirating a game gonna prove anything, but defending them and using the "morale" argument is childish too. The Epic Games store hate is not a "bandwagon", people are really concern about the consequences that their actions gonna affect the PC market. We hate the anti-consumer shit and the lies, is that simple.

Except with consoles, they don't tell you that a game is going to be on PS4 when they take your pre-orders but then reveal that actually they've decided to make it a Switch exclusive.

At least I'm not going to have my conscience fucked because I helped EGS establish their monopoly. This was intended as some people including me read Outer Wilds and thought it was a typo for TOW.
