I have a Yamaha Clavinova CLP-150 that broke recently and the piano technician said that the PC computer board is probably broken or the screen. However the piano is too old to be fixed in an official manner because they no longer have the parts for it. I was wondering if there were any alternative ways of fixing it that would reanimate it.
Take it apart, upload pictures of the board. Depending on what the issue is it might be something as simple as bad solder joints.
I've had a few issues with my Roland DP over the years but never something that makes it unplayable, more just that a couple of keys don't have very good action anymore. Your model is still being sold, so there must be some way of getting it repaired. Have you tried speaking to Yamaha on the phone or something?
I contacted a licensed technician about the issue, they said that the parts are no longer available in order to repair it officially
sounds to me like two grounds got mixed and the piano really didn't like that. Hmm. With luck a protection part like a resistor or something took the load and broke instead of the main chips. What does actually happen when you try to power it on now? I assume nothing.
God, I have no idea then, though that's really unfortunate. Are there any music shops nearby who might be able to look at doing a third-party repair?
The red light turns on but nothing else happens, it is basically frozen. the screen does not boot and no buttons work and no sounds are produced, the red led in the corner does turn on in the same manner as when it has power though.
It appears that I am going to have to acquire a new instrument unfortunately.
Seems really wasteful, there has to be someone selling replacement boards or something.
It looks like the keybed has nothing special going on in it. It should be possible to revive it as a midi keyboard using arduino. (maybe using something like this?) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/111296/62ba5759-a564-4f07-b30f-1f5469f93f09/изображение.png
Thank you for mentioning this, Arduino was definitely mentioned as a possible method for modernization and it's great to have a specific example for it
