https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-05-16-epic-launches-its-own-version-of-the-steam-summer-sale#comments Epic literally paid the devs for you. yeah they are doing everything they can to get you to buy on their platform.
While some of these are obviously pretty good prices, supporting anti-consumer buisness practices that developers chose despite knowing that it would have a negative impact on their players because tthere's a £10 discount would just be just absurd.
Nope, you'd have to pay me to use your games, anti-consumer scum
this would be a p good time to pre purchase borderlands 3. 3 unethical incentives in 1!
They also announced even more exclusives being announced soon.
This would be good if it was actually true... https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/143695/831af50c-ef76-43aa-a9f9-6913bba76fe8/LGfKWN4.png Apparently Subnautica is not classed as a game...
ehh its not that bad i guess
I pre-purchased a game before the start of the Epic Mega Sale and that game hasn’t launched yet. Should I cancel my pre-purchase and then buy it again to take advantage of the $10 discount? No, you don’t have to! Every player who pre-purchased an unreleased game in the Epic Games store prior to May 16th, 2019 for $14.99 and above will receive a $10 refund! You will receive your $10 refund automatically to the payment method you used in the next 7-12 days. What if I bought a game just before the Epic Mega Sale?  For all game purchases between May 2nd, 2019 and May 15th, 2019 we will refund you the difference in price between what you paid and what you would have paid during the Epic Mega Sale (inclusive of the $10 off from Epic). You will receive your refund automatically to the payment method you used in the next 7-12 days. Pretty sweet deal
Yeah, credit where credit is due, that's a very good idea.
As much as I hate the EGS this deal is pretty great.
But is there a shopping cart feature yet so I can buy more than one bribery-bait discounted game at a time? Maybe they could spend some of these Fortnite millions on that while they're busy buying friends.
Ahhh fuck Epic for actually doing a good deal
Price guarantees are common enough in retail because the retailer does not want to put up with returns that are motivated purely by wanting to take advantage of a discount that happened after their recent purchase. In practice, you just take your receipt showing the recent purchase and they refund you the difference between the price you paid and the price you'd pay under the active discount, saving the retailer from having to take and return an opened product while the consumer goes and picks another of the same off the shelf just for ten bucks off. Steam isn't incentivized to do this because their sales volume is so high automatically price-protecting their consumer base would be a LOT, especially when Steam Sales are predictable. Epic has such small volume it's not a deep enough cut to stop them from using it to buy friends. If they keep it permanently, though, it'd be awesome if it became standard and Steam adopted it.
Stop falling for it!!
If you buy into this deal, you're falling for epic handing you a piece of candy while fucking your asshole from the side. This is exactly why they are doing such a big deal, they want you to ignore the horrendous shit underneath it.
I'd need much much better incentives than this to actually go through holding my nose and downloading their platform.
a great incentive would be not being a shit company who uses underhanded tactics.
Also Ubisoft games are gone from Epic for some reason
Well yeah, whatever they'd do from now on to lure me in, i'd feel like a fucking moron if i ever gave them any of my money.
Wait, what? They just announced another game for it the other day. Did Ubisoft delist their games just to avoid them being sold at a discount? Or did they suddenly have a falling out?

OOFPH we are going to have a case if their games return after the sale.
Apparently https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/144750/6198067f-df3b-4eab-8272-bcc5248d76ea/image.png Sure, a discount problem...
Every cent you spend on this is a cent that will used against you. One of the few situations where piracy will legitimately do good in the long run.
Oh, hey, well I guess that answers that. Buy too many games in the sale, get fucking security-locked for suspicious purchases because the EGS lacks a shopping cart feature.
I'm not funding their acquisitions department, miss me with this epic mega fail.
What are the odds of this happening. Its almost too convenient.
Sorry Sweeney, its going to take a lot more than this to make me try and buy anything from your store.
Sweet! Gonna get some games
"Some game"* Buying too many games seems to get you locked out.
