https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-48290760 Theresa May has promised to set a timetable for the election of her successor after the next Brexit vote in the first week of June. The agreement follows a meeting between the prime minister and senior Tory MPs who are demanding a date for her departure from Downing Street. If she loses the vote on her Brexit plan, already rejected three times, sources told the BBC she would resign. Meanwhile, Boris Johnson has said he will run for leader once Mrs May goes. The prime minister survived a confidence vote by Conservative MPs at the end of last year and party rules mean she cannot formally be challenged again until December. Woohoo!
Not woohoo: Boris wants in.
Reminder that as much as May is fucking useless, every other alternative Tory leader will be an even more evil version of her =/
Can't wait for the torys to get a hard brexiteer as PM /s
That's true but he will fail just as much as she did in getting Brexit if her deal doesn't go through yet again.
well on the bright side at least the conservatives' polling is still pretty abysmal and only likely to get worse. honestly if boris had to make his move at any time i'm glad it was now
I think Michael Gove is more likely to win any leadership contest than Johnson.
Does Johnson actually have the political competency to take control of the Cabinet? Theresa May, despite her disastrous policy, has done a good job of neutering a lot of the hardline Brexiters in her party - she appointed hardline candidates to her Cabinet in the first place, which helped deter their influence for a long time. Johnson seems like he'd just be a figurehead while the Cabinet would be the main influencer of policy direction. Same as Raab, May had kept him away from any important decisions. Leadsom seemsto be the only one I could see as actually gaining control of the Cabinet.
Something tells Boris is going to lose out to Anakin Skywalker.
if this is like any other deadline she's tried to meet we'll be stuck with her for another 4 years
Fuck it, give parliament to Chancellor Palpatine, at this point, he'd probably be better than anyone in there right now.

That would just split MP's even further, what exactly is gonna change, the majority of the Tories is in fucking shambles since months.
Unfortunately, these people who usually voting for the Tories, are going voted for the Brexit Party instead, as all recent polls suggested very hard. Along mentioned the MP's will going different places in the political map, but maybe by worst, a near half of Ex-Conservative MPs them will go to the BXP, if they ideological lined with Europsceptism and even more extreme right-wing crap.
Eurosceptism isn't specifically right-wing. Corbyn is anti-EU and he's the one labelled as a Marxist. If you're a Remainer, you might finally appreciate first past the poll because it undermines a vote for parties like BXP. UKIP was the 3rd largest party by sheer vote numbers in 2016, and they were rewarded with a single seat.
Err... excuse me? I get what you're saying, but that was a headache to read.
Furrybutt has a learning difficulty that affects his ability to write sometimes. He tries his best. I think he was saying that people who would ordinarily vote Tory in the EU elections will be voting Brexit Party in droves and that MPs' allegiances are changing in other places too, especially more right-wing Tories who are Brexit hardliners such as Jacob Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson.
Enough that's true. But I saw and even show a poll (or two-three at this moment) from that "Britain elects" and "Flavible politics" tweets. Did show in a poll that party did beat Conservatives by a percent, will may projected to gain 10-20+ seats in each seating area. Which is this one: https://twitter.com/flaviblePolitic/status/1127305995418574849
If anything, extreme right-wingers would actually favour more European integration - look no further than the obsession with European heritage.
Well, based on evidences or rumors a soft anti-EU that using reform threat as a good reason for his distrust the current state of European Union. That unironically could be true... but due of their current (extreme/ultra-)nationalistic elements has fogged that up by their stupid ethnic-national pride from where they live in the continent, than like the EU in their moronic image. Including more-so the English ('British') nationalists.
