Luckily the reservoir is more like a slightly wider section of the river, and the banks on the down river side are fairly steep, so It doesn't seem like there's much of an existing threat to people living there. However, now everyone who lived on the lake side is high and dry. This is a region that usually gets a lot of tourism this time of year in Texas for camping and water sports. Will be interesting to see how this impacts that.
Thank fuck this wasn't a bigger lake.
Holy cow, that footage is impressive. Water is so powerful.
The two most dangerous forces on earth
Water
Time
Just look at what a tsunami will do to an entire countryside. It can completely flatten a city that is otherwise capable of taking on any earthquake, and hurricane, and any attack.
Water is one of those things that looks so innocent, until it fucks your shit up.
I'm kinda shocked that no one picked up on how weak the concrete was.
You can look at the grand canyon to see what water can do if given enough time.
Or the Scablands in Washington State to see what water can do over a short amount of time if there is enough of it
There is pretty much no topsoil in the east half of Washington because of a series of glacial floods that stripped it all away over a ~200 year long period, and the floods were big enough that, to this day, you can see the ripples they made from space
