Shit. I lost my cat the same way, she was 18 and her whole body rapidly shut down despite everything we tried to do. Awful way to go for an animal. RIP Grumpy Cat, even if you were a meme that leaked into real life, you were still a pet that was loved and cared for by a family. Losing a pet is always tough.
Crazy, my coworker's cat just died yesterday due yo urinary tract complications too. Something about mineral build up holding all the urine back and the cat being in a lot of pain. They had to put him down.
She was 7 years old.
Rest in peace Tardar Sauce. Your owners tried to hide the fact that they called you Tard. You deserved better
Pretty young for a cat.
She had dwarfism and stuff.
Our own cat passed away the other day. Can't help but feel really bad for them.
Pretty sure that's what did in my Toni last September. Seemingly fine, then one day he peed brown, two weeks later, dead. He was fifteen, though. Still, we just didn't have the money to even get him looked at and start trying a treatment... https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/198768/721f6a58-747b-4bb5-ac5e-5db4c3a6016f/image.png I know the pain of losing a cat so young, though. In November 2016, we lost a five-year-old by the name of Felix. He always had breathing problems, but he suddenly contracted what's called "feline infectious peritonitis". At least Grumpy Cat and Toni went peacefully in their sleep, but Felix... he suffered during that final week. He suffered badly, and I was the one who had to watch over him as he did. Every moment was dedicated to just trying to breathe, and through his mouth. He couldn't even sleep; by the final day, he was not only struggling and panting, but he was so exhausted that his inner eyelids were starting to involuntarily close. We had to put him down just to end it quickly; nothing we tried had worked. Oxygen box, medicine, a feline inhaler, none of it even made him more comfortable. The entire family was devastated. Every single one of us broke down in tears at some point afterwards, and bear in mind, I only ever saw my dad cry maybe once in my life before that. https://66.media.tumblr.com/7c68d327dc6174b4abcf74b5312cd02e/tumblr_ohfxjjPjGn1qg68t2_og_540.jpg In between those, we also put down an eighteen-year-old named Ziti in October 2017. There wasn't any disease that did her in - I even thought she was still happy as a clam - but she was getting so old and creaky that my mom thought it was more humane to put her down at that point. And I guess it made sense. She was deaf, showed signs of feline dementia and degrading eyesight, and had arthritis; she'd have to lean against the wall going up steps and simply couldn't climb down at all anymore, instead ending up tumbling down the whole flight, even if she acted completely unfazed afterwards. Plus she'd been so old for so long that the sentiment afterwards was just "welp, we'd been expecting it for years anyway". It's just she wouldn't give up on her own, and still seemed happy otherwise. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/198768/6b487cbb-a700-47fc-8331-30debd4bcc78/image.png As for who we have left, it's just Luna now. She's fifteen now and still perfectly fine and lively, although the way this miserable pattern has been going, I'm going to be on guard come August. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/198768/648e79c4-ac0d-4f83-890f-063be9143b1c/image.png
Was so it's name was literally grumpy cat?
Nope, was it was Tard. They fucking named their dwarf cat Tard.
"Tardar Sauce" was her actual name. https://twitter.com/SWatercolour/status/1129342837844267008 https://twitter.com/AmandaStingWCW/status/1129388947338092545
Kidney issues and related problems are among the leading causes of death for cats. Something like a third of cats will develop renal problems at some point in their life. Very sad to see. If your cat ever starts having litter-box issues remember to discuss testing with your vet. I've lost a few feline friends over the years due to kidney issues. RIP meme cat

I named mines to Snaps and Stalin
Damn, same age as my cat when I had to put him down. Same type of issue too. Putting down a pet is something you can never prepare for as a pet owner.
Friend's cat was dying when I visited them a while back. It was obvious something was up because she refused to eat and barely touched her water. Later found out the cat had outright vanished before they went to take her to the vet so I'd assume she must of went off someone secluded and passed away.
I think this behavior is fairly uncommon for cats that are let outside. When my cat was on her last week, she disappeared for about 2 or 3 days until someone found her down by the lake. We took her to the vet to see what was wrong with her but she had to be put down because she had a stomach tumor and the procedure would have been too expensive for her with a high chance of complication due to the situation. She was 20 years old.
