https://youtu.be/nb3bmFd7yt8 Evan’s been FIRED up to try Shou Sugi Ban (which is basically torching wood to a charred surface) ever since he discovered it’s a thing. Also Known as Yakisugi, the burnt wood becomes carbonized which makes it more waterproof, resistant to insects, and it looks really cool... which is our main reason!
If they didn’t carve as deep as they did, they could have used liming wax as an in-fill which would have made the CNC image stand out more.
