The savior of PC gaming.
Kinda weird considering Epic is paying for the $10 off
It devalues their game on other seller platforms without their consent DURING A PREORDER PHASE this is the same thing that got CD Projekt to pull Witcher 3 from GreenManGaming, resulting in its blacklist from licensed seller deal tracking sites and communities
So did Tim think "Fuck it, we tell the consumers will bend over backwards and consumers got tired of it and told us to fuck off, I bet we could make the publishers bend over backwards and they'll be fine with it" and not expect severe blowback?
if by "severe" you mean a whole two minor game titles
VtMB2 is "minor"?
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 isn't a "minor game title". Also some people are saying that Borderlands 3 also doesn't have the discount anymore (And let's not forget about the Ubisoft titles that are suspiciously missing from the sale because a "bug"). And even if you only count these 2 games, the Epic Games Store has like... 30 games total (?), so it is severe. I am gonna steal this comment from Reddit that explains it in a really simple way: It's generally considered bad practice to heavily discount games at launch or before launch, because it alters the customer's perceived value of the product. It can have a huge impact on the number of sales a game makes over the course of its life, early discounting creates an expectation of further and deeper discounts coming sooner rather than later, and hence many customers will then not buy the game with the expectation it will be even cheaper very soon.
I don't actually remember this. What were the details?
This is really nothing, epic won't even notice
It fucks up release-day/early sales, which are incredibly important.

Damn I didn’t think BL3 would get pulled lol
Holy hell what the fuck is Epic doing.
You fuckers always come out of the woodwork to defend epic. How many times does it need to be beaten into y'alls thick skulls that epic is bad for everyone.
It gets even better: there was apparently a Randy Pitchford tweet in support of the sale that was deleted shortly before this happened, because of course there was.
Who knew $10 would make everything go to complete shit with Epic's publisher relations.
It's almost like Epic actually genuinely don't give a shit about publishers/devs getting a fair cut and care more about looking good so they can ramfuck their way into the market forcibly to get a bite out of the PC pie.
Maybe devs and publishers will consider Epic doesn't actually have their interests in mind now.
They're already paying the shit out of devs, but have no systems in place to really support or enable them. It's basically bribe money, and this sale happening without even letting them know ahead of time basically is like a bright neon sign saying "we don't give a fuck", yeah.
'Minor' game titles... If only you knew how big these titles/publishers were.
Is throwing a tantrum really a good way to convince me? I made a bad assumption and a different commentator gave me the facts, which I appreciate.
Well maybe we'd be less inclined to "throw tantrums" if people like you did one iota of research before running their mouths. We're fuckin sick of repeating ourselves.
Good, fuck Epic Games, I hope they dissolve sometime soon, I don't want them around anymore, they're shit. Unreal Engine is still good though.
"how... how could our bribe money continue to fail us???"
Oh my bad, didn't realize I was making a proclamation on the news instead of posting on a forum discussion. Do you set out to crucify strangers who say something uniformed in person, or do you save your tough-guy act for the internet?
I am still amazed that Epic refuses to do it's basic job of running an online store in 20 fucking 19
If you can't respond in a normal way, maybe you shouldn't at all (referring to Octane's post here). Calling other people "fuckers" doesn't seem very helpful.
