expedia is such a load of shit, i used to use them to book trips within the uk that would cost me about £260 per trip. found out that booking direct from the airline was nearly under £100 AND the airlines website was easier to use.
Conveniently they suddenly were able to refund him after the media caught wind of the situation despite giving them the runaround for days beforehand.
I work at the booking department in a hotel so I deal with bookings by Expedia often, and holy shit do they overcharge people sometimes.
booking directly is almost always better and pretty much guarantees help if there are issues. expedia wont give a shit if anything goes wrong.
Not only this, but in most cases hotels actually cannot contractually assist you if you have any room issues meaning if you have any issue at all beyond the request of toilet paper, you're shit outta luck. Also means you don't get those sweet free upgrades
Don't these sites profile you and charge you more or less based on whatever they can find out about you? I've heard of people using VPNs and stuff to get cheaper prices.
Booking sites like Expedia are good to use as a search engine. Let expedia tell you who has the best prices are, then go book with them directly. Don't give these third party booking sites your money.
