Republican Justin Amash Declares 'President Trump Has Engaged in.. Congressman Justin Amash of Michigan penned a lengthy Twitter thread on Saturday afternoon, concluding that — after having read the full report from Special Counsel Robert Mueller — "President Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct," and "Attorney General [William] Barr has deliberately misrepresented Mueller’s report." The congressman's concluding statement was not a condemnation but an apparent call to arms for his fellow legislators to "uphold both the rules and spirit of our constitutional system even when to do so is personally inconvenient or yields a politically unfavorable outcome. Our Constitution is brilliant and awesome; it deserves a government to match it." Short article, well worth the read if you need a glint of hope. I know nothing about this guy other than what I read in this story but we need more people like him on both sides of the aisle.
Wow, a Republican with a fucking spine and a brain.
And the spine will be forcibly removed by next week.
Either way I hope we can count this case among the first of many. We need more politicians willing to admit wrongdoing within their own party. No more falling on the sword for their god-emperor of choice, no more solidarity by political proximity, death to all tyrants regardless of affiliation. This is the kind of moderation I'd hope we can all rally behind.
Assuming either those fucks (Pelosi or the turtle) would actually allow an impeachment process to even take place. But fuck them, JUST DO IT.
Hopeful, yes. Likely, no. The history of the "Grand" OLD Party is looking pretty grim as of the last half century. No new ideas, claim to want government out of their lives but are more than happy to dictate what women do to their bodies, and have 0 problems with reverting the effective laws to the time of the industrial revolution. I want more Republicans to finally see what they have wrought and actually try to fix it. But I think it will be decades before they even notice something not quite right is going on. Actively combating education and citizen's rights for the sake of money. The fall of the Soviet Union ruined them and made it clear who and what they truly believe because they lost their greatest boogie man. On a side note: Now I love my guns and my 2nd Amendment, but this has gotten out of hand so fast. At this point, I can only vote for Dems since they are trying to improve things or at least try new things. The 2nd Amendment forums, for all their worth and railing against government, are more than happy to lay down for Trump along with the GOP Senate. They talk of resisting tyrants and rising up against an "unjust" government but they will not do it because their team is in the house now. And most gun forums do read like a stereo typical redneck republican's mind(save for places like here and /k). Many posts sounding like they miss the glory days of the 50's and nuclear families, and Leave It to Beaver. It truly is a party for Old White Men.
I too am deeply concerned by the president's actions, but will continue to toe the party line and follow him whenever he goes
Even if I disagreed with his policies and opinions, just from those statements he seems like a politician that holds himself to a higher standard and would be more than happy to get more people like him regardless of political officiation in offices around the country.

Fortunately, one look at Lower's tweet shows people are chewing him out for being a stooge: https://twitter.com/RepJimLower/status/1129901705464832001 https://twitter.com/ForeverEversley/status/1129915019527770113 https://twitter.com/exhausted25th/status/1129931179510194176 https://twitter.com/YGalanter/status/1129911479858356224 https://twitter.com/pjg318/status/1129912122492772353
I'm pretty sure that's antithetical to what a Republican is. They're the "I'm the pet law-bender for my white-collar criminal corporate sponsors so they fund my cushy, sheltered life as a career politician" party.
So if I whack Amash on the knee with a reflex hammer, he should flinch some time during the next midterm elections.

...a total lightweight who opposes me... How does this not cause a huge red flag to anyone else in the country?
If he actually read the biased Mueller Report This from the man who is proud of being functionally illiterate.
Trump's true colors on show again, not realizing the language he uses says more than he says with it. A congressmen who opposes ME. Fuck off, my lord
I had to dig up this tweet https://twitter.com/gilbertjasono/status/1080285940579475456
This shit's been going on since near the beginning of his presidency. Remember the public speaker thing that essentially had them outright saying, "We will not be questioned" in the most 'I AM the senate' manner one could opt for?
I have quietly followed Rep. Amash for a few years even though he's not my rep, unsurprised that he would be the one to nut up, but he also is blithely dismissed by his colleagues a lot.
pretty sure he didn't even knew him actually
