The goal is for the very first American Song Contest to be ready to air in 2021. ESC2USA – EUROVISION SONG CONTEST STARTS IT'S JOURNEY TO USA
.....so how's this different from american idol?.....
Americans will never be able to replicate the sheer absurdity and what-the-fuckery of Eurovision unless every contestant is a man from Florida.
It's not a talent show. You should be an established professional musician to participate. Unless your country uses national selection and somehow votes for you.
They'll probably have one candidate per state and also have a state-based voting system. I.e.: Prepare for politics. Lots of voting in the ESC is not even remotely based on performance quality.
NA Vision
Oh god, imagine all the advertisements the show will have on TV. It will be insane.
I've just remembered that Stephen Colbert predicted it all in 2016. https://youtu.be/CTP17rWuUMo?t=200
So is it gonna be states vs states?
No one knows yet but I don't see any other reasonable way of doing that while keeping the format.
Like the baseball World Series
I've never watched Eurovision. I've heard a lot from friends. So it's like a competition where each country has an artist/band and they make songs every week and get voted out by the viewers till someone wins?
Each country has either a national selection or some kind of a closed selection. During this selection they choose a band who will represent the country on the contest. After that they have 2 semi finals during which 10 participants is selected by jury + televoting. And finally they have a final consisting of semi finals winners + host country + "big 5" countries which go straight into the final. The winner is selected the same way as in the semi finals. There is only one song per country.
are they going to use "world" to refer to the US again, like they seem to do with everything?
you mean there's other places?
That, insular areas maybe and probably two random South American countries, similar to how Israel and Australia is in Eurovision
Other countries' presidents of the United States would be very angry with this arrogance.
Then how did we get Conan Osiris?
so what would it be? there's only 3 countries in North America
If y'all want to be in Eurovision, all you gotta do is ask. We've had Australia join in on the occasion, geography isn't an issue at all.
there are 23 nations in north america
Death Grips gets on stage, all judges instantly collapse in epileptic seizure and they win without competition.
Telemóveis won the national competition with the maximum number of points form both the jury and audience. You guys have a shitty taste in music, that's it.
Jesus christ we must be mentally deranged
but why
Technically speaking, having an Amerivision (For the entire continent of America) would be a pretty interesting Eurovision alternative.
Include South America and it'd be rad. If it's only the US it's gonna be the lamest shit ever.
