LE MUR JAUNE
When cops act like criminals it's clear that they are not there for your protection. They're acting like some developing world dictator's bully boys.
Also reminded me of this
Emmanuel Macron says he hopes injured protester, 73, acquires ‘w..
I feel like some cops are power tripping brutes who, having lived been born into a different life, woulda been criminal thugs or loan shark debt collectors. When the police do this, they damage peoples confidence in the institution. If an officer did this to me or someone I loved I would not see police as protectors ever again, I would see them as a threat to my well being.
Honestly, it's shit like this which makes me believe that the only option for the Yellow Vest is to fight fire with fire. Get organized, discipline some people in shield-wall style fighting, and stand toe to toe with the police.
Yeah this. Get some molotovs too. Bring the fash goverment down. This kind of shit does not fly.
Molotovs be damned, most police suits are fire retardant. Use some form of itching powder.
That is horrendous. Macron and Co need to remember they're ruling from Paris, not Versailles. If the national executive isn't going to step in to prevent this from happening, then international powers really have to reprimand the French police.
Is this new? I haven't heard any yellow vest protest lately.
Still going strong every weekend and on special occasions such as may day. Don't forget that the heart of this yellow vest movement has been its brand new roundabout occupation strategy. Protests are now war zones but only prison will stop a yellow vest for good.
Let's hope it doesn't escalate like the Maidan in Ukraine and the protestors end up getting shot and killed.
I'm waiting for stink bombs to come back - got some pickled cockles fermenting in the shed. Gonna be ghastly as hell 👌
Their suits might be but the people wearing them definitely aren't.
People elsewhere would HAVE to actually do something right?

Hammer and anvil flanks, uniform and arms, and a helluva will
I have a visualization of a squad of dudes dressing up as ancient roman legionaries and beating back the cops with their formation tactics and shield walls while using shit like siege engines and spear throwing.
The goal for using itching powder is to cause the cohesion of the riot police group to disintegrate. It's the same philosophy of teargas. You are causing people to become individuals again as they focus on the pain/irritation they are suffering, and because of this you make it almost near impossible for the rank and file to be kept in order. Molotov cocktails tend to actually strengthen the resolve of riot police as they are then allowed to bring in stuff like rubber bullets and metal batons.
There's actually no escalation needed for that. Current day french protests are under a constant rain of tear gas, grenades and baton strikes from start to finish. This is because all blocs (bb, yv, union & activists) have been beaten into porosity and there's no way to keep them separated anymore.
Police have no other option but to attempt sting arrests in the midst of giant crowds, which leads to violent, exhausting, usually unsuccesful back-and-forths. It's a mess.

Reports that several Yellow Vest HQs are going up in flames.
Not the first time protesters in France faced rampant escalation and ended up winning by basically bidding their time. May '68 was not too far from this because the riot police back then also started beating the living shit out of everyone on the street, causing the movement to keep going out of spite, and hindsight kicked in really hard later on when they realized how much legitimacy they had given a movement protesting the oppressive nature of the De Gaulle government by responding with extreme prejudice.
