How can I get players on my Rust server the server has mods install.
Just make sure you don't advertise it here Rust Subforum Posting Guidelines/Rules (12th March 2019)
It is an extremely difficult period for a server owner and this game as a whole.
You are going to have periods you may decide to hang it up but if you stick with it, you will grow.
This is NOT a over night thing, it may take you months. And be consistent, no matter what.
Growing in this day and age of Rust as a server owner is difficult but if you take a few of these pointers along the way you may find them a little easier
Being a server owner myself I found that I had to continually advertise when I first started. So I would recommend using
https://www.reddit.com/r/playrustservers for starters. Be mindful of their rules.
There are other communities out there that will allow you to make an ad for you server, you are going to have to find out which ones.
With that said when you do find one you can use remember, it just isn't posting a few words about your server, it is about giving the fullest of details and giving the player a reason to play YOUR server over another.
Is this a modded server? If so, are your plugins balanced with game play? Or, are your plugins default.
The game is not optimized which means Oxide is left at times catching up along with all the modder's and then server owners.
Most of the times with plugins if you are not balanced it will greatly affect how people play on your server. You need to configure EVERYTHING in order to make it so that each plugin used is in harmony with the other.
Another thing about your plugins is that you need to utilize certain plugins to the fullest (ie Info Panel/Notifier/Death notice etc) again...just don't let them be default.
How is the stability of your server...are people affected by your host's bandwidth? Is it laggy? . Be careful of knowing the difference. The game being unoptimized can cause one to think it is server side lag, when it is not.
No, I do not offer assistance to those who do not wish to help themselves OR to those just looking for someone to play with. However, at times I feel it is necessary to bond with your community.
I would also goto the servers and check out what they are doing.
Be mindful..changing these things without informing your community can cause dramatic changes in population. Restarting your server without proper friendly notification, advertising something that is completely different in your server than what is advertised, etc.
This is a small list but if you take it to heart you may find it useful.
Very good advices. Thanks!
