Shad is always so much fun to watch, because you can tell he's having a barrel of fun. Though I won't lie, I always feel bad for him having to share his name with... well, you know.
Yeah I immediately think of a certain someone whenever 'Shad' is mentioned, I don't want to but I've been almost conditioned by this point.
Shad vs Shad in a swordfight tbh
which is which?
I'm not going to claim to be an expert on swordfighting by any stretch, but to inability to cross over would seem to outright kill the effectiveness of any weapon like this. Even just cycling between guard positions at 4:25 he crosses through his body. You can't do a maneuver like that with a double blade. That means everything is fundamentally more complicated and slow. You have to physically rotate yourself far more instead of just changing sides, swap sides by moving the back blade over your head, or spin the blade. All 3 of which will leave you open and/or telegraph what you are doing far more. Hell, a ton of basic thrusts have feints can't be done with a double blade because the twists would put the second blade through your torso. Even if you grant that a double sword actually has advantages (which I'm skeptical of because they're so large and cumbersome that many of his proposed maneuivers would be very slow relative to a standard long sword), those limitations would cripple the weapon.
That goes for pollaxes as well, and they're perfectly viable weapons. The problem with a double bladed sword is that it acts like a polearm, but you can't use it like one.
I'd really take anything this hack says with the biggest grains of salt.
But you can spread the grip out on those for actual control right? And the point of an axe/pick is to deliver an enormous amount of force concentrated on a specific point, with the balance being tuned for that. Or am I just missing something?
On a pollaxe you can spread the hands further if you want, but you're generally not passing it in front without a turn of the whole body, like you would with a sword.
not a fan, watched him once, didn't like it, yet he keeps coming back to haunt my recommendations. what makes him a hack, though?
Consistently claims dumb shit based on literally his own thoughts and mostly nothing else (occasionally vague sources), when refuted or debunked by experts will double down on his bullshit and have his equally trog-tier fanbase go after them. Made a fool of himself years ago shittalking Historical European Martial Arts claiming they don't work/aren't necessary or something and then it surfaced that he had literally never tried such a thing himself, he had just been star wars kid-ing it in his backyard.
I was really hoping to see him get bitch slapped with his double sword but alas "no fema camps are around here"
