Martin is one of the lead writers, with various kingdoms to visit and abilities to obtain from killing the leaders of those kingdoms. A person familiar with ongoings at From Software has told Gematsu that the project—said to be known internally as “GR” (Gematsu has been asked to only share the acronym) and in development for the past three years—is an open-world title (with horse riding) and collaboration between Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin published by Bandai Namco, which will be officially announced at Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference. While we have not been able to verify this information through additional sources, we have decided to share what we have heard in light of R.R. Martin’s blog post.

This is a surprising as hell announcement to wake up to, some part of me ended up wondering if I was still dreaming. Has the potential to be amazing though.

Typically I'd be cautious as to assuming something like"From are a make a ASOIF game" but man there are way too many coincidences Reposting my points from /v/ From Software presenting at Microsofts conference GoT and Microsoft already have a partnership deal GRRM contributions Miyazaki loves western fantasy, in particular vague prophecies like GRRMs GRRM always makes a point of the scale if the world, rumored to be a huge open world that requires horseback riding to travel Now Im way more familiar with GoT than the books but does the abilities sound like anything in lore? From times when magic was stronger? Or maybe beyond the wall? Beyond the wall would fit the norse aesthetic

It doesn't seem like it'll be an A Song of Ice and Fire game, just that they got him to do consulting on the world and characters of a new world for their game.
