Migrants, Bowen suggested, are “disgusting subhuman s--- unworthy of being kindling for a fire.” Less than two weeks later, prosecutors say, Bowen hit one such migrant with his truck, coming inches away from running the man over — and then lied about the incident in a report. The texts came to light in filings last month in U.S. District Court in Tucson as Bowen’s attorney fought to suppress a flurry of messages in which the agent used slurs and made light of violence by agents. In the dozens of texts introduced in an April 4 filing, Bowen uses racial slurs and insults like “s---bags” to refer to migrants. In one text exchange, an unnamed agent asked Bowen, “Did you gas hiscorpse (sic) or just use regular peanut oil while tazing?? For a frying effect.” Bowen responded: “Guats are best made crispy, with olive oil from their native pais,” using the Spanish word for “country” that doubles as an insult toward Guatemalans, the Daily Star reported. In another text, he refers to “mindless murdering savages.” The criminal case against Bowen dates to the morning of Dec. 3, 2017, when a U.S. Customs and Border Protection camera operator spotted a 23-year-old Guatemalan man named Antolin Lopez Aguilar, who was suspected of jumping the border fence in Nogales, according to a federal indictment. As Lopez sprinted to a nearby gas station, Bowen and two other agents responded in separate vehicles. While one agent hopped out and found Lopez hiding under a semi-truck, Bowen circled the station in his Border Patrol-issued Ford F-150. When the migrant tried to run back toward the border, prosecutors say, Bowen “accelerated aggressively” in his truck. He hit Lopez twice from behind, knocking him down the second time and screeching to a stop “within inches” of running him over, according to the feds. Lopez was treated at the hospital for abrasions and later sentenced to 30 days in federal prison for illegally entering the country, the Republic reported.

So how are these guys different from Nazis at this point? Calling other people subhuman, Murdering and maiming innocents and beliving everything their "glorious leader" says.

I hate to say it, but as karmic as that would be, someone as unhinged as this would probably retaliate by going postal or attempting to murder immigrants personally. They've already tried, so they're just one mental break of indignant rage away from going all out.

Abolishing ICE is a fucking stupid idea though, it's just symbolic because ICE's duties still have to be done by someone. Why not give us a real solution like purging the fascists and white nationalists and enacting sweeping policy chances that actually matter? The current idea that they can solve the problem of corruption by getting rid of the entire agency is the definition of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

ICE is a relatively new agency. Their existance is by no means neccessary. their jobs used to be done by a different department. If ICE, even under Obama, has been a problematic institution then something needs to be done beyond just changing up who's running it. Yes, the services of ICE are still required. Good thing aboloshing or dismantling ICE wouldn't render those services null and void, they'd just be assigned to a different government body. At this point, it's almost impossible to say a different governing body would do a better job. A fucking toaster would do a better job at securing the border.

ICE was only created post 911 to fix INS which was itself considered too biased to do their job. Combining the criminal and civil agencies for immigration under one roof has been an unmitigated disaster as the civil part of the agency is virtually non existent. we can absolutely abolish them and reform ICE as two opposing agencies, a civil one for immigrations proceedings and a criminal one for actual criminal investigating.
