can't name a mapper or audio engineer: Levelord and Alexander Brandon get FUCKED
anyway mapping and modding is probably the most important aspect to any game imo. On top of just letting me play Warcraft 3 for a decade, it also gives an outlet for people without masses of resources at their disposal to show off their talent, and its a means for the industry to grow and receive fresh ideas and all that cool shit. If I owned a gun every game would have a map editor and mod support. Or at least one more game would before I ended up in jail.
God I love FUNKe's newer videos so much, his editing is on-point. About the topic, I don't think anyone would be opposed to having more fun ways to screw around with their favorite games. Stuff like Halo 3 Forge mode and SSBB's stage builder blew my goddamn mind when I was a 10-year-old babyshit, I just wanna see more games embrace this kind of creativity.
To be fair, a lot of game industry work is thankless. You wont know the guy who modeled Tracer, but you'll thank him every time you play
(??? maybe, unless you're like me and cant stand her)
Publishers don't give two halves of a shit about fanmade game content unless they can monetize it. They're chasing the big one-time payouts for newly-released games instead of sustained lifetime sales, because the former looks like a nice handsome spike on your quarterly report and shareholders get nervous about how flat and round the latter looks on the same report.
countless
and that's just the ones with nothing but maps + new textures
then there's the pk3s and gameplay mods
not to mention total conversions
Doomworld
a more direct List of notable WADs
Many pages long and yet that's regarded as what is "NOTABLE", not simply whats actually out there or less known
