However, due to the demands of real-life and a diminishing interest in Garry's Mod in general, the gamemode was never completed. I've recently picked up Garry's Mod again, and once again, the modding itch has once again struck me. So here it is once again, as I left it five years ago, with a few fixes to make it playable. I intend to continue developing it, adding features and refining current ones, as well as building new maps and models. Features - Not all of these are implemented yet! Life Support Horizon features a tiered life support system. The basic devices available at the start will get you started, but you will have to explore new worlds to harvest the minerals and resources you'll need to truly thrive! Fully Featured Mining System Mining is a core aspect of Horizon, and is critical to your offworld survival. Basic life support devices are freely available but are limited- you will have to return to your homeworld to resupply. Advanced devices will allow you to build sustainable habitats on alien worlds (and even the depths of space), but they require special resources & minerals in order to be constructed. You must explore to locate these valuable resources, harvesting from harsh planets and locating rare asteroids- and defend from players who would steal your ore! Crafting & Upgrades What good is ore if you can't build stuff from it? Horizon's crafting system allows you to build more advanced equipment from the ore that you harvest. By locating rare artifacts and special ore you will also be able to construct upgrade modules, which will allow you to modify existing devices to increase storage, speed up generators, and more! Mapper Friendly! Horizon uses a custom .fgd for mapping, so adding environments is a breeze! Just map your planet, place the hzn_environment entity down and customize the planet using simple drop-down boxes! it couldn't be simpler! Brush-Based environments are available as well, making it easy to customize the environment of your structures Where To Download Horizon is available on Steam Workshop! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1748368536 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1747632288 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1748334321 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1747642552 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1748322764
Looks awesome, but you should put more Stuff into the workshop version of it. People generally dont download stuff it it has NO pictures/videos/description or anything. Not even me.
Do you have the gamemode in a git repo anywhere?
Not sure why I left it that way. Fixed now. I'm working from a private repo ATM. I may open it up later though.
im probably going to get some disagree rates because of it, but i wouldnt make it puplic. It might end up like DarkRP. Way too many clones, most of them terrible, and the gamemode list is flooded with DarkRP based crap
I agree keep it private at first. If people genuinely are interested in making improvement/changes that offers more than just changing a few variables you can open it up. Of course you cannot control what happens after that, but unfortunately that comes with the territory of making gamemodes. I disagree with keeping the gamemode private forever.
If it's on workshop then it isn't private to begin with, it's one gmad away from being in folder format rather than workshop. Having a public repo makes it easier to have contributions to the code made, for example a couple fixes that I did in the hour I dicked around with it a couple days ago.
It's not that I'm trying to keep it all secret, I'm just still getting on my feet in terms of where I want the project to go. Once I have a solid plan, I'll open it up.
