I guess THQ is gonna close again
Management at THQ must've been hittin' the THC.
Holyshit they had Desperados III in development? How did I miss this?
They’ve acquired studios and major companies along the rights typically so I’m not too worried. For instance when they bought saints row they did it by acquiring deep silver’s parent company Koch media. id imagine the games are spread across individual subsidiaries like Disney and PepsiCo.
They operate as sister companies, Koch Media/Deep Silver are still allowed to function independantly from THQ Nordic and make their own choices. That's why THQ Noridic didn't quite support the announcement of Metro Exodus being exclusive to Epic but rather said "We trust their choices". Hopefully that sort of thing doesn't happen with THQ Nordic themselves as they have a lot of great IPs and, for the most part (Outside of that AMA situation) their approach to things as been pretty good.
bet carmageddon is on the list
pls be timesplitters TIMESPLITTERS FUTURE PERFECT Trademark of KOCH Media GmbH Serial..
I have a feeling a large number of those are re-releases/remasters since they have such a massive number of IP's under their belt now. Still a bit worrying since it doesn't allow a lot of room for potential financial failure among any new titles I'd imagine.
It's probably just protection but I wouldnt complain about a rerelease of one of my favourite games. Makes life easier than emulating it anyway.
I dream of a Battle for Bikini Bottom remaster.
Honestly each game is different enough that an HD compilation of all three would be great. It's been so long and Free Radical got dissolved so hard that I wouldn't want a Timesplitters 4 immediately without showing the devs know what they're doing.
Red Faction hasn't had a release since 2011, I'm hoping they succeed with it because man has this series been seriously squandered. A remaster (if it's even possible) of the first game would be probably be a hit given how it's basically the best game in the series still.
They did a Remaster of Guerilla last year https://store.steampowered.com/app/667720/Red_Faction_Guerrilla_ReMarstered/
Oh I forgot about this and didn't even see it on wikipedia, guess the 1st game will probably still be just barely be merely existing I guess.
If one of those games is the possible new Destroy All Humans game they teased, then I'm fine with this. Well, as long as the game doesn't turn out like Path of the Furon.
Seriously how the fuck is there not a Timesplitters HD pack
Pretty sure Crytek still controls the rights and they don’t give a shit.
I hope they port all the games to PC, but I'm not holding my breath for that.
THQ Nordic bought the rights to the franchise a while ago.
Seeing as you mentioned this, and I've been looking around the internet for it with no success Do you know if there happens to be a copy of any of the "Destroy All Humans" games for the PS2 Emulator?
If I had known it was gone, I would've held onto my copy last year.
One of them is Destroy All Humans right? Right? Please?
Surely they meant 8 and not 80, right? R-right? the company currently has 80 games in active development across two publishers and a major studio Can't wait for Crowbcat to have a 24 episode series on asset reuse in THQ games, complete with generic plot and a predictable ending.
How surprising to me that most of you guys begs for remasters/port instead of purely new game.
I'd love a new game, absolutely, but in an age of growing compatibility issues and IPs getting swept under the rug, i want some of my favorite games to continue being playable and to be introduced to newer crowds. I'd kill for a Dungeon Siege HD, i tell you.
PCSX2 emulation of Destroy All Humans can be a bit spotty I've found. Might just be the PAL version of DaH2 though as it's using a rip of my physical copy. There's a few screen-space rendering effects that just do not behave nicely, so the game loses the hazy "bloom" colour grading it had. And sometimes UI elements just don't render. You can avoid almost all of this running it in software rendering mode, but that limits the framebuffer size drastically. It's a shame it doesn't emulate better. I had a blast playing the first two years ago.
DAH 1 and 2 are available on PS4. Digital only, but they're pretty good ports. Now if only THQN could buy out the Mercenaries IP and port the first game to PS4...
Around Janurary this year, a bunch of hacks that were released that fixed a bunch of screen related issues, including making Ace Combat playable. I'd check that out.
What sucks is that Destroy all Humans 1 got backwards compatibility on xbox. But the 2nd one is still missing for like no reason. And it bothers me.
