I couldn't find any better sources but this something that just happened a hour or two ago nearby me in Aldershot: https://twitter.com/Nigel_Farage/status/1131503623446421504?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1131503623446421504&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.express.co.uk%2Fnews%2Fuk%2F1131014%2FBrexit-party-pensioner-milkshake-aldershot-hampshire There are people throwing milkshakes / drinks at other party representatives now apparently: https://twitter.com/Femi_Sorry/status/1131066941236498434 https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1131014/Brexit-party-pensioner-milkshake-aldershot-hampshire https://metro.co.uk/2019/05/23/brexit-party-pensioner-hit-milkshake-outside-polling-station-9661212/ The unnamed man was left covered in the gloopy, pink liquid this morning. Passer-by Lucy Blackman posted the image on social media. She said: “This poor man was covered with milkshake this morning by a disrespectful yob. Ms Blackman said she witnessed the aftermath of the attack in Aldershot, Hants. She added: “I arrived just after, he seemed shocked. “He just told me to watch out for the milkshake on the floor so my children didn’t slip.” I'll post a better sources when it comes up. Sad to see a old soldier get attacked by milkshake morons, he was only representing his group at the polling stations.
Hard to give a shit tbh
When your group represents hatred, misinformation, a potential economic disaster and is led by a hard right cod who stands against the common folk while pretending to be one. Being old isn't an escape clause.
The disrespect! And to a soldier too? *tut tut* Never would have happened in my day. It's created such a climate of fear - these leftists thinking milkshakes should be given out for free to the elderly. Only a vote for brexit can end this chaos, this indignity. Take our country back from these hooligans and vandals. Back in my day we had a word for political violence. That's right. Terrorism. /s fuck brexit and the people advocating for it. Idgaf if they're old and it doesn't take anyone special to join the army either. idiot is an idiot. Lobbing milkshake at a sterotypical boomer is poor optics though and just gives the brexit crowd outrage fodder
Milk shakes; more dangerous than knives????
Don't need a loicence for a Milkshake, but you're gonna need one soon, it's getting out of control now.
Milkshakes can be more dangerous than guns. I once saw somebody have milkshake thrown at them and a cloud of wasps descended upon them - they were allergic. Tragic tale.
Any form of violence against an opposing party will be used by that party to play victim. I would be curious to know whether or not these actions further any particular cause other than deepening support among the right as they pat each other on the back and complain about milkshakes.
You really think finishing Brexit will stop the milkshakes?
Yes, and anything can be twisted into 'it was violence' by a sufficiently bold enough liar and an accepting enough audience.
I fucking love this trend.
Once opened, the genie, or milkshake, cannot easily be put back in the bottle.
milkshake war when? if this continues I feel like both sides are going to start getting milkshaked it would be pretty rad to see a street battle of only milkshakes (fuck cleaning that up though)
I have a strong suspicion that one side will bring more milkshakes than the other and, as a response, the other side will 'justify themselves to escalate to bricks' because it 'isn't fair that they're losing'.
I went and saw the gentleman who was attacked with milkshake. Very nice man, people have flocked out in support and bought him new shirts, people there were telling him he has a lot of support etc. He told me he's wearing the milkshake in spite of it all.
brexit party: 0 milkshakes: loads

This is fucking stupid. Short sightedness to the point of blindness. Making victims out of these people will only embolden their supporters and turn ill-informed fence-sitters into more of their supporters. On voting day of all days, a bit of decorum is not much to ask. Don said: ‘He walked over to me and gave me the finger. ‘He then went to the Co-op, got a milkshake then came down and threw it on me.’ Great, making Brexit Party opponents look like inconsiderate thugs. Sure to win plenty of votes for Remain parties!
Considering a Labour MP was shot and killed a few years ago by a member of the public maybe people should be thankful its just milkshakes getting thrown around.
yep daily reminder that when remainers in the UK get rowdy, people end up a bit cold and damp when leavers got rowdy, an MP was shot and killed
Brexit happening will fix this? How dumb does Nigel Farage think his supporters are oh wait.
What even is this post It feels almost like a template. I'm starting to have trouble telling any of these posts apart 'cause they all touch the same bases about emboldening some nebulous group of supporters and turning some other, equally nebulous group of fence sitters into more of those supporters and there's the cut and pase calls for civility/politeness/fairness/[YOUR WORD HERE] and the concern trolling about how it's making The Left look and it's just the most milquetoast Enlightened Centrist nonsense I can think of It feels incredibly weird because it seems to be treating these people as completely without independence and agency. That it wasn't a conscious decision by this old man to go out and support the brazenly racist big business party and it wasn't his responsibility to be enough of a well informed and reasonable adult to realize that he is throwing his support behind the brazenly racist big business party And it's this wild thing I've been noticing that I've only just recently found a name and concept for in one of @zukriuchen 's posts. It's this weird infantilization of the far right. The literal infantilization of the far right. The treating them as a bunch of ignorant children who just don't know any better and it's somehow The Nebulous Group Known As The Left's responsibility to clean up their poopies and teach them how to be better and Set A Good Example And that's just wild as fuck to me. These people are adults. They have independence, they have self-awareness, they have agency. It's been clearly and regularly demonstrated and rationally and reasonably argued that the things they support are, in the common parlance, a bit shit, and they have made the conscious decision to ignore it. There is absolutely a case to be made for misinformation and the effects that has on people and the way they are exploited through propaganda networks and that whole rabbit whole of cyberpunk dystopian horror, but the caveat to that is that it's not super hard to read the writing on the wall and we're at a point where it takes a conscious and willful effort to remain ignorant of the ways you're being exploited. There's no shortage of people telling you how you're being exploited and by who and there's no shortage of people who will happily point you in their direction and get you started on the right foot in supporting causes that are not primarily benefiting a bunch of bigoted money grubbers And then there's this whole weird assumption that people are just inherently good and nobody is really evil and nobody could really support such vile things, they can only be tricked into thinking they do! And if you just show them the light you can bring them back into the fold! You can just reasonably debate them out of this! They just need the Right Words! And yeah, sometimes you can, but the hardest part about getting a person out of an abusive relationship is pretty commonly the abuse victim themselves, who might react aggressively, even violently to any of your attempts to help. And that ties in to the other strange assumption here that people want to be helped and they want to have their minds changed and that they're secretky harboring a bunch of doubts and they're just waiting for the right person to help pull them out of it and save them from this hell that they definitely don't want to be in at all! They're just all turned around! That's not to say people can't change, of course! It's a given that they can! But the key component here, what makes this all so heart wrenching, is that they have to want to change. They need a reason to change, and one of the hardest parts of being an adult is realizing that humans are a fucking irrational bunch of apes, and you're never going to be able to reliably win people over by appealing to their sense of rationality and reason, especially if people didn't arrive at a conclusion in a rational way to begin with. If all it took was a rational explanation to incite major change, we wouldn't have things like anxiety or depression or drug addiction or eating disorders. We wouldn't have had all those wars, we wouldn't have had all those outbreaks and oppressive regimes and all these awful things. Humans often operate in spite of their rationality. And that's not even touching on how your rational decision might not be the same as somebody else's! More often than sometimes, people have to feel like they need to change in order to want to change, and the harsh reality of that is that more often than sometimes, a cold, rational debate about Why You Need To Change just isn't enough to foster that need. It is far more common that the only way to get that need is for the lack of change to be having an immediate and severe negative impact on your life. For a comfortable habit to stop being comfortable and start having negative impacts that far outweigh the comfort it brings In short? Sometimes you foster change through reasonable discourse and mutual understanding Sometimes you need to huck a fucking milkshake
To be quite honest though, milkshaking shitty politicians is one thing, milkshaking their mislead supporters is another. Politicians like Nigel Farage know what the fuck they're doing and don't care. They actively spread their corrupt bullshit just so they can benefit themselves. They deserve it. Someone like this guy may be a supporter of Brexit and all the shit that comes with it, but it's because he's been mislead by politicians like Farage into believing something like Brexit would be actually beneficial for him, when it's just about the worst thing possible for a pensioner considering how fucked he'll be when the economy enters a recession from Brexit. Do not do this shit to their followers. Sympathize with them, debate them, and change their minds instead. It's okay to milk shake one of these far right assholes who consciously sell bullshit and lies to desperate people who want to see change after such a gridlocked political field for the last two decades.
How lovely of you. Maybe once brexit comes around you can go pay a visit to show support for people who lose their jobs or the people go hungry from recession and austerity caused by brexit?
Never have I seen a boy more desperate to pick a fight.
whaddya gonna do? give him a left pinger followed by a quick GNUppercut?
fyi all evidence points to this being fake. it's a cherry yoghurt available at the nearest tesco's... a mile away. and the splash pattern is absolutely not indicative of it being thrown at all https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/302829/066e4ade-4fda-48b6-a432-ac183111afdc/image.png so either it was faked or the dude just spilt his yoghurt on himself while he was eating lunch (evidenced by the sarnie) and saw a golden opportunity oh also he's a war criminal https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/302829/5f6407cc-1521-435e-a949-4b98292d5946/image.png
Or maybe it was thrown on him from close by? Not that I'd put this beyond them (it's obviously very easy to fake), but when "all the evidence" is uhm... something that looks like a YouTube thumbnail, and the opinions of some internet users who are decidedly not forensic scientists trying to do splatter analysis, colour me slightly unimpressed.
Only the finest people!
listen buddy it was that shitty pic from some tabloid article or a bunch of screencaps of tweets from an account that is now private. besides if the yoghurt was thrown on him from that close it barely qualifies as a splash.
