I don't think much will happen here, the US uses that place as an airbase alongside the UK.

No idea. I just read the article suggesting its heavily used by America and UK for 'anti terror' operations. We also see the big powers have abstained from the vote, and some others to avoid having to argue about their own issues of sovereignty. The UK has officially said it does not recognise Mauritius' claim to sovereignty but would likely give up the islands when they're no longer needed.

not much, they've been open to keeping the base there, they just don't want to negotiate a contract that prevents them from letting other countries open bases there, countries like china that might be very interested in having an airbase south of india
by the looks of that photo the island wont be around for a whole lot longer anyway
