LONDON — Russians who were linked to interference in the 2016 U.S. election discussed ambitious plans to stoke unrest and even violence inside the U.S. as recently as 2018, according
to documents reviewed by NBC News.
The documents — communications between associates of Yevgeny Prigozhin, a Kremlin-linked oligarch indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller for previous influence operations
against the U.S. — laid out a new plot to manipulate and radicalize African Americans. The plans show that Prigozhin’s circle has sought to exploit racial tensions well beyond Russia’s
social media and misinformation efforts tied to the 2016 election.
The documents were obtained through the Dossier Center, a London-based investigative project funded by Russian opposition figure Mikhail Khodorkovsky. NBC News has not
independently verified the materials, but forensic analysis by the Dossier Center appeared to substantiate the communications.
The documents contained proposals for several ways to further exacerbate racial discord in the future, including a suggestion to recruit African Americans and transport them to camps
in Africa “for combat prep and training in sabotage.” Those recruits would then be sent back to America to foment violence and work to establish a pan-African state in the South,
particularly in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
The blueprint, entitled “Development Strategy of a Pan-African State on U.S. Territory,” floated the idea of enlisting poor, formerly incarcerated African Americans “who have experience in
organized crime groups” as well as members of “radical black movements for participation in civil disobedience actions.” The goal was to “destabilize the internal situation in the U.S.”
The Mueller report exposed how Russian trolls, employed by associates of Prigozhin, deliberately inflamed racial tensions by spreading false and incendiary stories to African Americans
via social media. Among the objectives was to suppress black turnout in the 2016 U.S. election.
what if world war 3 has been happening this entire time but it's just a cyberwar for political intrigue
The real sickening thing is not that Russia is out to sow discord, it's that the media continue to buy into it.
If I remember correctly, a KGB defector to Canada laid out these plans by Russia in the '80s, and so far we seem to be playing right into them.
“Playing right into them” is giving far too little credit—We’re rabidly leaping into them.
There is also Foundations of Geopolitics, which reads almost like a blueprint for what Russia's foreign policy has been like for the past 20 years. Allegedly doesn't have much of a following in the upper echelons of the Russian government but it's hard not to see the parallels between what the book recommends and what Russia has actually done.
I think what's interesting about Yuri Bezmenov is that, even if we assume his account of the KGB is credible and disregard his anti-communist bias, his "famous" 1984 interview has been used by conservatives as prophecy for things like SJW's, the far-left, the deep state etc but it seems like instead of trying to collapse western democracies by antagonizing leftists, Russia's strategy has been to encourage right wing and far right groups.
I'd say it's working excellently, social tensions feel much worse than they did 10 years ago.
I mean that wikipedia page says it's really popular within the military. What did Putin do before he was prime minister? he was in the KGB, he was a military spy.
I assume he's read it.
Agreed, it's gotta get worse before it gets better. Stagnation doesn't help develop, but conflict has consistently had a record of doing so.
With everything going on issue wise in America I wouldn't be surprised if 5-10 years from now race relations and trans rights were much more improved.
man its a good thing tom clancy isn't around because he'd be bored and disappointed by all this ridiculous but effective propaganda war.
rip tom...
Tbh I think uncle sam does a better job of this that the Russians ever could.
Honestly, I'd be more willing to believe that the docs were concoted to acivate the conspiratorial half of the USA, rather than be seriously considered. American racists were calling the last president "gun grabbing Obama" and doubting his cotizenship before he was even elected. The idea that minorities my stop taking people's shit scares white middle America more than anything.
Maybe the CIA should go and stir up some Chechens
Oh wooow oh no how unpredictable
Edit:
I am in shock
Won't really achieve much outside of a complete racial cleansing of Chechen people. Would be a perfect excuse for Russia to boot.
Thank you for providing a link, this book sounds incredibly interesting. It's not hard to figure out where Russia got it's influences.
