It only says a few lines were altered.
Also it's not exactly transphobic.
She's an Alien
Nice to know that the good guys of ResetEra won against that transphobic bastard know as Katsura Hashino! /s
It is referring to Erica, not Rin.
Its more referring to one of the transgender characters from the original not becoming trans in a "correct" timeline.
Wasn't it already found that the content wasn't transphobic?
But it's heavily implied that Erica will still become Trans in that timeline, nothing Transphobic about it.
Well, at least they're listening and don't want to upset anybody.
wasn't it because of a time travel/flashback thing?
remember when telling people they were wrong and should read more thouroghly was okay and not a personal attack?
what a waste of resources
unironically changing the outcome of a character because some whiny shits perceived it as an affront toward them. fuck you.
Coming from a transphobe this is hilarious.
Really wish I hadn't clicked that spoiler
ironic that i left those mindets behind a long time ago but i guess you never bothered reading those posts of mine did you? you mind pinpointing the transphobia in Catherine? the one which explicitly states that the developers hate all transpeople?
you arent winning any friends or allies like that
I think it's cool when developers are receptive to criticism and/or feedback
Ironic you say this seeing as I always see you rate basically anything pro-LGBT negatively. You rarely ever seem to post anything in those threads though and the rare occasion you do it's a trash post like the one you made here which absolutely comes across as not pro-LGBT in the slightest. So yeah, clearly you've obviously left those shitty mindsets behind.
Cause you totally can't be transphobic even on accident. There's more to transphobia than explicitly stating you hate all transpeople, you know.
As if being civil actually convinces people like you of anything.
why do trans people have to earn allies
I like Alice and want her to be my friend so this is inaccurate if nothing else.
i never said they had to earn allies but by accusing people of transphobia even when someone certainly hasnt behaved in such a way then maybe dont be so shocked when others give you a less friendly answer. and ive yet to see the supposed transphobia in the game. point it out, please. even if its "subtle"
we had a thread in this a while back and as far as i recall, all the supposed phobia was proven entirely wrong so how is changing the character positive?
Why not look at it from another direction? If it wasn't intended to come across as transphobic but did to some people then why is changing things to attempt to address that issue a negative?
For the record I wasn't in the camp that thought that the original issue was intended to be transphobic to begin with. I can just see where those people are coming from and see no issue with the developers taking steps to try and address those concerns. And I certainly don't see it as anywhere near enough of a problem, even if it was somehow a negative thing, to react like this to it:
Especially for someone who claims to have grown out of being transphobic.
i wouldve reacted the very same way no matter the issue at hand. changing a character for such a minor reason is just tarnishing the idea and vision the developers had in mind. why meddle in such things? why not just leave well enough when there clearly is no issue, proven many times over?
if you think this is about me hating on transpeople, fine. you go ahead and do that but if you tried to see my point i am only defending the writing of a video game to stay as true to the original plan as possible.
But if the developers consider it enough of an issue to change it after the complaints then there's really no issue? Why does the opinion of one random person (LeonS) outweigh the opinion of the dev team who apparently disagrees on the matter? Also why is this "original plan" so overly important? There's tons of games out there that were heavily flawed when initially released and changed in later releases or in updates to address the issues. I don't see you complaining about them deviating from the original plan so why now for this one game? There's clearly some difference in this one specific case but what is it if it's not you being transphobic? Why is this one single instance a big enough problem for you to take such issue with it?
i take issue with many games, its just that i dont feel like my voice needs to be heard in every single thread or article about it. ive often brought up fire emblem as a crime against changing not just outcomes but entire personalities which is far worse than this case.
Did this change come from the original Japanese developers or the team making the localization?
Also you need to address that some of these complaints were very aggressive against the devs and based on a dumb confusion of a user who misunderstood the ending of the game. I don't know if this change was made because they really wanted the change the original plan and not simply to not anger any more people
I've never even played Fire Emblem so it's not something I would keep up with to see you post but this is the first time I've personally seen you complain about a game changing things. And it's about them clearing up an issue that wasn't intended to be an issue on their side but that confused some people. That's really not an issue and not particularly deviating from some original plan. It's just clarifying things so those people won't be thrown off by that small part of the game. It may have only been an issue for a small portion of the playerbase but it was enough for the developers to obviously have taken notice and want to take care of the issue. I still haven't gotten all the way through Catherine myself so I don't have a complete picture of how Erica is handled throughout the entire game but the parts of the game that I have played through seem to be supportive so I don't see why them changing one tiny part to be more in line with that is actually deviating from things. It really just comes across as fixing an oversight or communication error on their part rather.
who cares about this shitty weeb game anyway
Apparently this may include lines of the guys implying Erica not being a true woman or if not, hoping they'll be changed?
I don't get why people were so pissed off at those sort of lines. Vincet and the other guys aren't meant to be good people, they're a shitty, sleazy washed out group / not good people. Characters aren't meant to reflect the views the writers or any of the staff, and it's a really common trend people have been
falling for lately. Just makes me think they have no idea what sort of characters the writers were going for.
imagine being upset that a name in the credits is different
I mean, you can say the same about the people that were upset of the original take
