Going from 1000 series to 2000 instead of 1100 was, is, and shall be fucking stupid.
Bigger number means bigger leap and thus more interest, 1100 would suggest not a whole lot has changed, but 1000 to 2000 on the other hand, well shit, something big has changed for sure.
That's not far from the truth really but still, it seems more like a marketing gimmick than something more legit.

I really wish GPU manufacturers would consistently name their products so we won't have to be confused and figure out what the fuck is going on.
For AMD they've gone from HD 7000 to R9 280 to RX 380, 480, 580 to Vega 56 and Vega 64 and now Radeon VII to Navi XT.
Nvidia is only slightly less worse with moving from 9800 to GTX 280, 480, 580, 680, 780, 980, 980, 1080, RTX 2080, then 1660 and a bunch of Ti units slapped in.
Just make an Nvidia 10 for fuck sake.
don't forget all the weird professional guys between 1080 and 2080, like quadro, titan and other nonsensical names.
The next Nvidia GPU should just be called 'GeForce'.
