https://gematsu.com/2019/05/travis-strikes-again-no-more-heroes-coming-to-ps4-pc I never expected this game to be ported and becoming the first PC "No More Heroes" game to be released.
Oh man, fucking A. Hopefully this means that we'll get a PC port of the first two games too in the future.
This game is great but you're literally missing out on 90% of the game if you've only played NMH1&2
I honestly didn't even know this game had already came out.
As a fan of NMH 1 and 2. I found this game incredibly disappointing. The gameplay is pretty dull, and it's missing the main appeal of those first two games which were the cutscenes and Travis' snark. Travis barely speaks at all in this. After the intro cutscene, the only other time you hear his voice is occasional quips as he's fighting enemies.
It's a game for Suda51 fans, not for NMH fans. There's callbacks to every single work he's done including some special mentions to other Grasshopper games he wasn't explicitly doing. Kinda sad that people didn't give it a proper chance, mainly because everything that happens is actually going to be important in NMH3 according to Suda51. You're going to be so fucking lost if you don't know what happens in TSA.
The gameplay itself is serviceable but as VHLW this is a love letter for Suda51 fans, and it really delivers on that. The Visual Novel parts are amazing and calls back a lot to those who played The Silver Case games. Plus it has the closest thing to Shadows of the Damned 2. Plus it seamlessly just integrates everything Suda51 worked on, including killer7.
I've mentioned this in the past, but Travis Strikes Again isn't a game you release nine years after the last game in the franchise. It's a game you release a year after No More Heroes 3 to hold people over for whenever NMH 4 comes out. People have been itching for a new No More Heroes game for some time. TSA is an unrelated arcade indie title in a NMH coat of paint pretending it's the game people want.
Haven't played NMH myself, only watched them but when this came out it was still eyebrow raising but TheGamingBrit's video on it should provide you with a somewhat different perspective. https://youtu.be/VIJ_9c3Gy00
Can we get the first two as well? I know that I can't make the jerk off motion for charging up my beam sword, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice.
1 should be pretty easy since they already did a PS3 version of that (though it also does changes a bunch of stuff that may not be desirable but it's better than not having it on PC). I'm hopeful they will make it to Steam, considering we got killer7. I'm hoping for Shadows of the Damned, Flower, Sun and Rain and Lollipop Chainsaw too in the future.
Suda isn't interesting in creating "next big game in franchise" to make fans happy. Pretty much every game Suda has directed is different from everything that came before it and he has no interest in directing derivative sequels. Travis Strikes Again is pretty much Suda making a weir art game about coming to terms with his past history and frustrations of modern AAA development but with a No More Heroes coat of paint.
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is coming PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam, developer Grasshopper Manufacture announced at MomoCon. Sweeny Exclusion Zone in fully effect
Aggressive scrollwheeling up and down to recharge your sword
TSA might be Sudas best game since NMH1 why he took so long to finally go back to the directing chair is mind boggling NMH2 was such a drop in quality without Suda directing it.
I'm a little surprised but maybe I should have seen this coming. it was made in UE4 after all.
Soundtrack is pretty varied. A lot of references to music from his previous games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VkC-MsYvuo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weFX7gW76Fo https://youtu.be/zuox8gU40cw?list=PLWCkhGoFcFiyICKF4aglT1WEQgzR8UFYZ The mad man said he'd try and get a fully uncut version of Killer 7 released if he's able since he only used so much of the original script. Guess we need to wait and see how NMH3 goes.
i fucking love tsa, and i want to support suda. hopefully there's less of an input lag on the pc version?
No joke, this announcement actually made me go out and buy the Switch release finally. Been meaning to ever since playing through NMH 1 again. Honestly, I'm enjoying the game so far. Yeah, it isn't NMH 3, but it's fun and interesting on its own merits. It definitely feels like a Suda game where Suda is actually in the main seat again, instead of just consulting on the sidelines (aka every game after NMH 1). My only complaint so far is that I feel the levels drag on a bit too long, but it's not a massive issue. If I end up enjoying the game in full, I may just double dip on PC to give Suda more money. Also since the game basically screams out that it's made in UE4, it'll be interesting to see if a modding community forms around it. Also https://twitter.com/suda_51/status/1132453534228549633 PC and PS4 ports are gonna get their own exclusive shirts, like how the Switch version has Nintendo shirts. Watch the PC version get Half Life and Portal shirts since it's on Steam.
Wait that much? I thought the only callback was Bad Girl's dad being your partner in the whole game? Unless there's more to this game than what I thought since we are still getting NMH3.
the text adventure parts of the game references a bunch of other suda works
there's tons of references to silver ward, flower sun and rain, killer is dead, killer7, and an entire level based on shadows of the damned
Travis practically meets every character from a Suda game or visits a place from a previous Suda game. He basically goes to every location and at least meets one person from a game made by Grasshopper studios
What's changed from the original Wii release to the PS3 version? I've been meaning to play NMH for a while now but I was curious which version would be the better experience.
you could play with the worse motions controls of the PS Move
The PS3 version cut out like one third of the open world, have ridiculous and stupid looking blood effects instead of the high pressure blood sprays of the original, changes the artstyle for the worse and somehow have more performance problem than the original Wii game. It's an inferior port in every way and iirc Suda even said that if they ported the game again they would base it of the Wii version.
