"Let's protest vote because our current government lie to us"
*Proceed to vote for a party know to lie, with tie to Russia, and that was anti Europe just 2 years ago*
"That will show them!"
Ignoring the 32 other ones they could have voted for of course
Because when a country is facing an somewhat "oppressive" government, the right call to make is to vote far/alt-right
It worked well for the us after all...
Gods Macron had a silver pallet given to him and did less than nothing with it. You can't defeat a fascist and do shit afterwards.
These *country party* beats *same country party* headlines really don't make much sense. It's a proportional election, fellas. So what if some people preferred to vote for the Greens rather than Macron's centrist party? The FN made 23%, that's less than 1/4 of total votes. No single party won on a national scale or cleared an absolute majority.
What would be much more interesting would be seeing the pan-european coalitions and how the entirety of the parliament will look like. What the broader alignments look like and what it means regarding what laws may be voted in.
It's terrifying how good the extreme right is at gaining trust within the public eye.
Unfortunate but not surprising. Macron seemed to have had his own issues with giving preferential treatment towards the rich while trying to address Climate Change, leading to the protests we later saw in the news.
I mean, the FN is literally performing worst than the last european elections from 2014. The FN was stronger before macron.
Le pen was the #1 party since Hollande's presidency, they were strong before that, this is the same trend. 2014 results :

It's actually being viewed as a Macron victory by a lot of people. 22,5-23% after the incredible backlash his governemnt is getting is pretty impressive, I'm surprised so many people still support his party.
The real losers here are Républicains and France insoumise who underperformed by a lot. Macron drained the républicains and PS votes hard. Reminder his party wasn't a thing merely 3 year ago, we've had UMP/Républicains vs PS as the two main parties leading majorities for decades, and Macron's rise killed that status quo (for better or for worst, mostly worst).

This is the numbers that matter lads. The FN and REM result's aren't shocking anyone, it's what the polls have said for weeks. I for one am glad european green party performed surprisingly well overall (even though I disagree hard with french greens on some issues, like their anti madantory vaccines or hard anti nuclear stances).
They offer simple (false) solutions in a world which is now too complex for that. Very easy to market nationalism without considering the interconnectedness of the modern world.
Grass grows, birds fly, sun shines, and brother, Orbán is still unbeatable.

This, along with the brexit party article, have terrible titles imo.
While not false, eurosceptics split their votes fewer ways so the results aren't as bad as what's implied.
