https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/philpott-wilson-raybould-political-future-1.5150957 Former cabinet ministers Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott will seek re-election as Independent candidates in the fall election campaign, having rejected an offer to join the Green Party after weeks of talks with leader Elizabeth May. Good luck with that girls, even [maybe] both them to be gonna lose to either the two-four (LPC, CPC, (maybe) NDP, and GPC) federal political parties anyway.
My riding had an independent MP for a while, after he resigned when Chretien made it clear the Liberals weren't going to repeal the GST like they promised. Resigned immediately and won a byelection, then IIRC the next 2 elections afterwards. People who were from a party, but quit very publicly on a matter of principle that matters to their constituents are the most likely to win as an independent. I wouldn't be surprised if both of these women with their ridings.
Big surprise that people kicked out of a party decide to go independent lol
At the very least, they'll likely cut into the vote of whoever the LPC decides to run in those ridings, which could lead to gains for the CPC and NDP.
And very probably the Greens too, as given their slightly rising in the polls as another alternative for the Ex-Liberal and NDP members in past four months.
