I'm actually mildly interested in the game but then I remember the somewhat disappointing game that is Minit (and to some extend, Baba) and I assumed that this game is, too, within the realm of "small game claiming to be experimental but its unique mechanic overstays its welcome" so I'm like, eh maybe this isn't worth my time.

I haven't played Minit but I wouldn't say Gato Roboto is anything experimental or relies on unique gimmicks.
I would recommend the game to anyone who liked Super Metroid and tight and responsive controls. And cats.
