Christ, it's fucking adorable
But Paper Mario already has bugs
the devs are super chill, pretty hyped for this game
Impressive how the Hollow Knight developers are working on two Hollow Knight sequels at once!
This looks gosh darn adorable, I want it.
I'm starting to realize that a pretty decent formula for indie success (barring... Well, actually coming up with something new) is to find some niche or style of game that the original creators of have been refusing to tap because they don't think it's profitable enough or it no longer agrees with their ~vision~, and just make a spiritual successor to that. If the concept isn't too demanding of development resources and you can deliver, the game practically advertises itself on hype.
Holy shit, looks like a straight carbon-copy of Paper Mario... which is not a bad thing at all. Those bee puns can make The Bee Movie run for it's money.
Normally I think it is better if people come up with their own thing but since Shigeru Miyamoto Nintendo has decreed that "aLl SuPpORtiVe ChaRAcTErs mUsT bE TOadS" I want this to make A thousand year door like sales out of spite.
TBF I know the feel. TTYD was one of my favorite RPGs ever. Just in general the 'golden age' of Mario RPGs were probably the most pleasant, whimsical explorations of that weird little 'universe' to ever exist and it's a shame that they sorta' tossed it out the window.
ahhh I love paper mario. this is awesome. only thing that seems off is character animations, especially out of combat.
I have faith that they'll soon realize this, especially in this new Switch era. In the meantime, this game will do just fine.
If Nintendo wants to get on Paper Mario fans' good side, they could start by making a Paper Mario Trilogy HD for the Switch. Paper Mario, Paper Mario: TTYD, and Super Paper Mario all on the same cart and on the go would probably convince me to buy another Switch myself - especially if the rumored Metroid Prime HD Trilogy is also real.
Does the 2D paper aesthetic impact the gameplay at all or is it just aping the paper mario style because they are also using the same combat?
