Super Bunnyhop - Nintendo Should Make N64 and Gamecube Games in VR

One of the only videos George has made I can't really get behind. Mostly because, when it comes to VR, George often misses the forest for the trees.
I can tell you right now that the nostalgic feeling you can get from playing classic games in VR is very very fleeting. The joy is temporary and when you get past it, it is the same game you've played before, except strapped to your face.
Dolphin VR is definitely worth checking out, Metroid prime is amazing with it. but I can't agree with his inherent message that Nintendo is missing out by not re-releasing older titles with VR modes. It's just not as fun as he makes it out to be.
This is only worth mentioning because people put way too much stock in the idea of playing their favourites in VR. It's fun, but it's a gimmick - Nintendo should focus on revolutionizing VR in their own extremely accessible way, not relying on nostalgia to sell their cardboard headset.
I could see Star Fox and F-Zero but only because of the inherently cockpit nature of both games.
I think a lot of people would love to have F-Zero GX on switch period though.
F-Zero plus VR sounds like a terrible idea. There's a reason why there's no cockpit view in those games.

It's actually very fun.
Nintendo games are too low res for VR, it would never work
I tried Odyssey and while cool, it's just, why even
Did... did you watch the video?
I was making an aside, he talks about headtracking but nintendo itself has a habit of being massively behind. I don't see him making any points towards resolution either.
Nintendo always sticks to lower end hardware no matter what, and lower resolutions. VR with a low resolution just doesnt work, and Nintendo will never get serious enough to make actual headtracking happen. You need more that 1080p and you need at least 75hz for it to be truly comfortable. Anything lower than that is massively disorienting and blurry.
All i see further vr from Nintendo is a shitty low resolution experience that will get old fast. I would really rather they don't get heavily into making VR. VR headsets are far more than just being a fancy gryoscopic camera. It needs full controller and head tracking, which requires technology that is much more recent that they like to refine.
Plus positional tracking is pretty much a requirement, even for being a fixed location. It's uncomfortable as fuck when you're locked in a position playing a game were you only have gyro aim. That isn't to say it has to be an expensive exclusive experience, but the cost of it would be worth it.
I ran a few games through VR using Dolphin.
By far, my favorite experiences were Wind Waker and Metroid Prime.
I hope that if they do this, they're able to disable the Gamecube's occlusion culling. As it stands, you're able to see things pop in and out of existence based on which direction the camera is supposed to be facing. If you're looking straight ahead, you might barely notice it. If you look around, you just see skybox.
redout is significantly slower than f-zero x/gx.

This kind of thing would probably make people sick.
It really does depend on the person. F-Zero GX in VR didn't personally make me sick, but I have pretty strong VR legs.
