John McCain hidden from view during President Donald Trump’s recent visit to Japan. A U.S. defense official said Patrick Shanahan, Trump’s acting defense chief, is also considering sending out formal guidance to military units in order to avoid similar problems in the future. Shanahan confirmed details about a Navy email that said the White House military office wanted the USS John McCain kept “out of sight” when Trump was in Japan about a week ago. Shanahan told reporters traveling with him to South Korea on Sunday that he is not planning to seek an investigation by the Pentagon’s internal watchdog into the matter “because there was nothing carried out” by the Navy. He added that he still needs to gather more information about exactly what happened and what service members did. “How did the people receiving the information — how did they treat it,” Shanahan said. “That would give me an understanding on the next steps” to take. Shanahan did not detail what those steps could be, but a defense official said Shanahan is considering a clearer directive to the military about avoiding political situations. According to Shanahan spokesman Lt. Col. Joseph Buccino, Shanahan told his chief of staff on Friday to speak with the White House military office “and reaffirm his mandate that the department of defense will not be politicized.”
Shanahan told reporters traveling with him to South Korea on Sunday that he is not planning to seek an investigation by the Pentagon’s internal watchdog into the matter “because there was nothing carried out” by the Navy. Okay, makes sense I guess He added that he still needs to gather more information about exactly what happened and what service members did. “How did the people receiving the information — how did they treat it,” Shanahan said. “That would give me an understanding on the next steps” to take. That's called an investigation honey
So Trump's babysitters told the Navy to hide the ship for a ridiculous reason, and the Navy said No. Good. Exactly how it should be
Theresa May was actually nicknamed 'The Submarine' due to how she rarely did interviews and worked behind the scenes of British politics, but I think we'd just sink her and luckily it wouldn't be noticed.
sorry guys, trump will politicise literally everything and the entire republican party supports it
My guess here is that the term investigation is being used to talk about a specific formal process. So what he means is that they aren't breaking out the experts and writing up papers. Just figuring out enough to type up an email.
AKA pulling some absolute bullshit out of their asses.
No, there are a few different official investigation procedures in the military. He is meaning it will not be an official military investigation, but there will just be questions asked of people without sworn statements being signed and a board of officers gathering evidence to put someone on trial.
Well USA, you shouldn't have made an orange, incompetent blabbering idiot your Commander and Chief. Also, make the US military not political, what a laugh.
The only answer to that request that I will believe will be “Or what?”
