I'd eat toothpaste Oreos for $20,000
The Barcelona court, in a verdict published on Friday in the Spanish news media, also ordered Mr. Ren’s YouTube and other social media channels to be shut down for five years. Now that is clever. Disabling their ability to attract attention and close their primary source of income. Hurting them where it actually hurts.
It's just a prank bro
“In the original video, which was later removed from YouTube, Mr. Ren acknowledged that he “may have gone a bit far,” but added that there was “a positive side,” saying, “This will help clean his teeth — I don’t think he has cleaned them since he became poor.”” What a complete and utter lack of empathy going on here. Also him “trying to make amends” by filming himself giving the man another 20€, obviously just a cash grab on this asshole’s part. Seemed harsh on on the surface, but considering how much it he has apparently made from these videos, it actually seems reasonable with a suspended jail sentence and a big fine.
that's a surprisingly heavy sentence not defending the guy, but if you asked me what would net you a 15 month prison term and a 20k fine my first guess would be assault
haha homeless people bad
I mean he fed the guy poisoned food.
Well he did basically poison someone which isn't too far from assault.
I wouldn’t really call “tooth paste” poison.
Nice assumption dude. Questioning the destination of funds worth more than what many Americans net in a year = I hate the homeless. There's nothing wrong with being homeless, I've done it.
The prison sentence is suspended, though, so if he isn’t gonna be a big dumb idiot about it, he’ll never serve it. If it wasn’t suspended, it would be way, way over the top. The fine seems on the border of reasonable, considering how much money he made off of these stunts.
Technically he was sentenced for "violating the moral integrity of the homeless man" according to the article. That said, messing with food can very easy be more harmful than certain categories of assault (which, btw, doesn't require actual physical harm in at least certain parts of the US. That's probably more a language difference, though).
You're pretty close when you need to define it from a legal perspective. Maybe saying "contaminated" would be better?
It looks like the court also took into account the fact that he made lots of revenue from this and other videos containing similar content. Ie. this is not the first time. But the judge noted that Mr. Ren had earned more than €2,000 from advertising revenues generated by the video, one of several he filmed in response to various challenges received from his followers. “This was not an isolated act,” the judge, Rosa Aragonés, concluded in her ruling. In other videos, Mr. Ren also displayed “cruel behaviors” toward “easy or vulnerable victims,” the ruling added. So this sentence also covers to some extend the other cases.
Toothpaste contains fluoride. Consider that the homeless man has probably long since forgotten the taste of both oreos and toothpaste, so he ate more than one of them. In very small amounts fluoride is fine, but eating a lot can incredibly toxic on the body. This guy 100% poisoned a guy for clicks.
There's a reason you spit out the tooth paste and don't swallow it.
Okay I’ll admit that’s actually a higher concentration than I was aware.
Also there's mint oreos so you might just overlook the fact that it tastes way stronger.
It might seem trivial, but given the context it's just so cruel.
Haha hey guy who can't afford food let alone snacks, here's a snack except JUST KIDDING it's actually poison. LOL pranked People on the internet: i don't see the problem its just a prank xd
I'm not sure if that's a fair assumption to make, homeless people can usually afford fast moving consumer goods. Granted, I doubt they'd buy anything past the "best value" option, but he would be able to tell the difference between sweets and toothpaste
Rock-brain, toothpaste is not made to be digested and will usually make you throw the fuck up if you swallow any significant quality of it. Go belt some mouthwash then tell me if you're dandy.
To To quote the article "The homeless man vomited after eating the cookie." I wouldn't call one Oreos worth of toothpaste a significant quantity, regular Oreos have like 1/4" or less of cream. Though the article could be incorrect in regards to how many he ate, should we assume the article is correct or incorrect? How many people actually read the whole article? As for mouthwash, people DO drink it to get drunk.
I'm not a member of the thought police but you could use some empathy classes.
It shouldn't even matter if its a question of "How significant" the issue is dude You shouldn't feed people something that they are misled to think is something else because its A fucking dick move Possible that they are allergic to contents of said food
Regardless of whether or not it was poison, this was a ridiculiously dick move and it's profiting off of punching down at society's most vulnerable. Imagine already being homeless, and then someone offers you a big thing of food, and it ends up making you puke. You don't have access to fresh water to wash your mouth out with, and now you're afraid to accept food from other strangers, possibly forever.
I said any significant quantity of it. I swallowed a shot's worth of mouthwash and it made me nauseous as fuck. I've swallowed a full brush's worth of toothpaste and it made me feel rotten as hell too. It's not made to be swallowed. At all. There is a reason you spit it out.
Did I ever say this Ren guy ISN'T a shitstain? Or that Gheorge L deserved to be fed toothpaste? Or that giving people tainted food is a joke? Here I am just asking questions that aren't answered by the article, while others just make assumptions and Baww. who REALLY gets the settlement money? how did a man not realize the difference between toothpaste and sugarcream? Where does it say Mr L had no water to wash his mouth with? Every homeless person I've ever met carries water! "violating the moral integrity" sounds pretty shady. l would think they could have convicted him on some sort of tainted food charge. Maybe it was a plea deal?
"I'M JUST ASKING QUESTIONS" Nah mate You're being a dullard.
