This would be my first time making a decal, I've looked at tutorials but they are all 12 10 years old
Building the next tomb raider, CA?
Nope, Paris Catacombs. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/350531/1514d6a2-86ec-43e3-b56c-47a1d8bd2a69/20190605193150_1.jpg This is floor 12, the catacombs are like a onion, it has layers.
You didn't explain what you tried already, so I am going by the assumption you tried absolutely nothing. You forgot to add an alpha channel to the vtf and to add $translucent to the VMT. You can use paint.net (or gimp) to add an alpha channel and export it as a vtf, as they support source. In the alpha channel, white will determine what will be seen, black is what's going to be invisible, everything inbetween is going to be transparent. IGNORE THE REST OF THE POST Ingredients 150g/5oz butter 4 potatoes, peeled, cut into barrel-shapes using a cookie cutter 75ml/3fl oz chicken or vegetable stock 2 garlic cloves, peeled, crushed lightly with the edge of a knife 2-3 sprigs fresh thyme sea salt flakes and freshly ground black pepper Method Heat the butter over a medium heat in a saucepan. When the butter is foaming, add the potatoes and fry until deep golden-brown on one side, about 5-6 minutes. (Do not move the potatoes as they cook.) Turn over the potatoes and cook for a further 5-6 minutes, or until golden-brown on both sides. Carefully pour in the stock, then add the garlic cloves and thyme sprigs. (CAUTION: the hot fat will splutter when it comes into contact with the stock.) Season, to taste, with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat until the stock is simmering. Simmer the potatoes until tender, then remove the potatoes from the pan using a slotted spoon and keep warm.
Is it okay to use Himalayan Salt?
semi related but you should check out the map ttt_catacombs_v3 its probably the most mazelike ttt map in existence but its like what you are making, would be good inspirations
My map will have multiple floors. Okay have you ever played FATE? https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steam/apps/246840/ss_1e5aa55b1363edd252089b7153fb3338b8e6b663.1920x1080.jpg?t=1447358347 I will try to put as many floors, lairs, that Source can handle, random paths, some leading to dead ends.
