It's amazing how profound this guy is at 90. Dude just reached back to the boer war to justify why he thinks newer generations will never truly understand and remember wars.
Although this man is British and I'm not, I'd like to take a page from Russian tradition regarding respecting WW2 veterans. Thank you, grandfather. Thank you for your service in defeating the Nazis.
If anyone here hasn't, I highly suggest watching the ITV 1973-1974 documentary series The World At War. It's widely available and has a breadth of interviews and information from survivors of World War 2 from all straits, ranging from civilian to political, to military, and even some of the last interviews with holocaust survivors and concentration camp victims. A truly harrowing and truly informative series that still holds up today.
that thing has been retouched and remastered quite a lot over the years as better copies of the films have emerged too. its been rebroadcast here quite a lot
