Linköping blast (The Local) Police suspect the powerful explosion that blew out several apartment windows in the centre of the city at about 9am was caused by "an explosive device deliberately placed outside" in the area of Hamngatan/Ågatan, police investigator Magnus Skoglund told a press conference in Linköping on Friday afternoon.   However, it is not yet clear exactly what exploded or who put it there. Skoglund said they did not know for sure who was responsible, but that police had a "working hypothesis" they were currently investigating.    Citing unnamed police sources, local newspaper Borås Tidning reported earlier on Friday that people linked to notorious motorcycle gang Bandidos were behind the explosion, but Skoglund would not confirm.   "We are investigating many theories," he said, later adding to public broadcaster SVT that police suspect links to the criminal underworld but that it was too soon to speculate on which groups may have been behind it.   Police do not believe the explosion was linked to terror crimes, but said they were not ruling anything out.   Earlier in the day, local rescue services at 10.20am described the event as a "gas explosion", but later said this had been a mistake. "We don't know anything about what caused the explosion, that is for the police to investigate," said the rescue services in an updated statement.
Heard it 4 kilometers away.
Do any Swedes want to provide their personal experiences with what The Bandidos are?
I had no idea the Bandidios were active in Sweden. Why would they blow something up??
"We are the people our parents warned us about" has to be one of the edgiest mottos I've ever heard lmao
Could be a threat towards members of other gangs living in that apartment block. We've had Biker wars before which involved things like RPGs and car bombings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Nordic_Biker_War
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organized_crime_in_Sweden Here's a list of active gangs in Sweden if you want to know more. Pretty much bi-weekly reports of gang activity in the country, mostly by Bandidos and Hells Angels.
Do they put snow chains on their bikes or something or so they hibernate in the winter?
They fly south
Bandidos are also active in Germany, there is one club not far from my hometown. In the more rural area my hometown is they apparently don't cause many issues but they have been in the news about killing Hells Angel people a few times the past years. Gang violence is just so stupid, good to see nobody was seriously injured by this.
due to the awkwardness of snow-bike logistics, they exclusively drive volvos with bikes painted on the side
Tbh I'd not have expected this in Sweden but hey, I guess no where is safe
Rhetorical question but obviously a motorcycle club is a cover for criminal club. OR you could say that it's just a motorcycle club for real, and the club doesn't answer for any criminal wrongdoing of its members. And they also use cars, in and out of crime. Also very international, i.e. arabs can be found among their members who, together with "pure" Finns, conspire crimes such as robberies and drug distribution.
Im not a Swede but Finnish, we have these same MC's here in Finland. They base their business around illegal narcotics ranging from weed — all the way to amphetamines and coke. They are also associated themselves in weapons smuggling, prostitution, extortion and they have embedded themselves in legal businesses which they use as outlets for money laundering. The bandidos are in my opinion small timers, if you take into consideration that we have a criminal group called The United Brotherhood, they do all of the above and have contacts even in the upper echelons of the government. Even our judges and officials are afraid of them to some extent, since they are ruthless and dont mind doing time. If you're interested just how deeply they've been involved with officials, just think about this, the head of Helsinkis narcotics squad, has been doing shady business with them, Jari Aarnio is the official UB has been doing business with, and thats just the tip of the iceberg.
Made a joke about bikers at a bar, bartender told me to shut the fuck up because Banditos owned/were affiliated with the bar and i might get fucked up
Et in Arcadia ego unfortunately. This kind of thing can happen anywhere, any time.
Even still, to have it happen to an individual person themself is still so insanely remote and unlikely, and while the media does love to "over extend" how common attacks are. I'm saying this because actually worrying about it isn't so good a thing. But regardless, it's still crazy how it can still just happen. If someone just decides to be an asshole and kill people nobody can actually stop them.
It's pretty bad in my smallish home town. The criminal gangs run a lot of protection/extortion rackets here, a lot of bars and resturants have been burned down, and some firebombs were discovered in a restaurant. And a few years ago some career criminals blew themselves pieces in an apartment when an explosive device they were constructing detonated.
I work on a scaffolding like 5 blocks from where this happened, shit was loud as FUCK And a like 6 months ago some MC gang threw a bomb and blew up the entire back yard porch on an elderly couple's house in my city because their son who has gambling and drug debts was registered on their address, they really don't give a fuck
IIRC some of those rockets never went off, because they were fired from across the street, and they have an activation range of 40 meter.
