I wasn't expecting Saw Gerrera.
idk, was quite hyped for this but something about this demo's put me right off, not sure I can pin it down. combat doesn't really look that fun i guess?
The concept of using a lightsaber as a light source never occurred to me for some reason but it's so obvious.
Honestly just looks a bit "by the numbers" if I'm honest. Not bad but not particularly exciting either.
also was it just me or were the blaster shots moving incredibly slow throughout the whole demo? I mean I know you've always seen the bolt moving through the air but holy shit it looks like you could just sidestep them with barely any effort
There are some clever stuff there in the demo, like the Lightsaber as a light source, but the combat seems a bit... on the easy side. Of course the character was overpowered for the demo but I do hope that isn't the case for the whole game and there are actual legit threat.
Plus they were probably playing on a lower difficulty level.
Its the AI I think. They are real slow and docile but its an E3 demo so you know how that song and dance goes. I hope they are a little more aggressive in the final product.
E3 demos are never going to show difficulty. They think you want to feel BRAHHH and BADASS and RAAAAGGGHHH and KILL EM ALL YEAAAHH The people who produce these presentations are entirely out of touch and will never accurately represent how it feels to play the game. Doesn't mean the actual game is easy though.
when the only thing about a demo that makes you go "ooh" is the lightsaber being used as a light you know somethings gone a bit wrong
Looks like a generic action game, take a little soulsborne, a little uncharted and slap on a star wars paint job I hope Respawn has something up it's sleeves
That Imperial sword dude at 4:30 ish got cut in half and just kept right on going.
I mean even ignoring the difficulty, the combat still just looks a bit bland. I mean they could have at least thrown in some dismemberment to make it look a bit more impactful, the weird orange glow after cutting through someones arm just looks a bit bad to be honest.
Reminds me of the force unleashed. But that had physics props you could chuck at enemies. This seems to be quite rigid with what you can do.
Well it is a video game after all.
Can't help but feel so incredibly underwhelmed by how generic the protagonist looks. Also, is he supposed to be a Jedi? Why does he look like a hobo who just picked up a lightsaber for the first time. There's no nuance or style to the way he fights either. Especially the over the head "slam" attack. It's a lightsaber, it's not gonna hurt more by hitting someone harder. Also more of a nitpick I suppose but it bothers me that Jedi Outcast has dismemberment without blood, yet this game doesn't even bother with it. It looks so off.
Besides what others have said, the lowered difficulty makes the attempt at "a skilled Jedi" look more like a button mashing genocide romp with an overpowered character but without the spectacle of Euphoria physics and mass destruction that The Force Unleashed had on its side. This is about as safe and generic for a "unique" Star Wars game that you can probably get, and about the only strong point is the presentation. Which, for obvious reasons, still doesn't look very polished with all that clipping and the twitching models in cutscenes and so forth.
Really disappointed by this. Like others have said, it's another generic AAA action adventure game. Plus doesn't seem to be any fun physics elements to play around with, sadly. A lot of modern AAA games are neglecting physics, sadly. Think about all of the games from the mid-2000s that had a ton of physics elements to fuck around with. The entire level felt static except for ragdolls and the bits of metal that fell off that saw vehicle thing.
overly linear, sluggish combat and deadpan sequences.
Physics objects are probably one of the best things you can add and really makes environments feel alive. Even if it’s only small things
He's a Padawan that's been in hiding for a few years since Order 66.
What really did it for Force Awakened was Digital Molecular Matter, which was a physics engine unlike anything I've ever seen before or since. Euphoria's character animation is great but DMM is just on another level
4:32: did the special trooper just say "Fuck you?" That just seems weird in Star Wars for some reason. 10: 24: Hurr hurr high ground. There's enough for me to be curious but not enough to get excited about it. It just comes off as a bit generic. It could just be the difficulty settings, but the AI didn't seem that intelligent at times and made the demo feel like a shooting gallery with prop targets rather than enemies. I think it may be because it feels less like a "gameplay" kind of demo and more like a "proof of concept" kind of demo. Like watching footage of that cancelled Darth Maul game. It showcases ideas and things you can do, but feels unfinished and firmly on rails.
This feels like what happens when you make a soulsborne game ~accessible~. Maybe higher difficulty options could make the combat more interesting.
Force Unleashed III looks sick
Looks cool, I like how reactive the movement is. A lot of good weight to the character I think. I'm sure the game will be a lot more than what this trailer shows, it's called a vertical slice for a reason
I mean, this fact was used quite effectively in terms of cinematography in The Force Awakens: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/242634/9bb7e108-d7be-48b9-9d29-3f2f1c0ab7f7/image.png
Didn't Clone Wars and/or Rebels do it once or twice (if not more)? Tuskin, where you at buddy, help me out here.
I'll give it some benefit of a doubt since its alpha. But the gameplay so far reminds me of Jedi Knight 2. So if the game's a crossbreed of Jedi Knight 2 and Titanfall 2. I'm Happy.
