Honestly the most hype thing for me this E3 next to Cyberpunk. Age of Empires is always gonna be my guilty pleasure, played it non-stop since I was a kid.
Uh, how many revivals does AoE2 have now?
AoE II HD is pretty much a very patched up AoE vanilla which meant it still had a lot of issues specifically desync. It also contains 3 DLCs which add new civilizations, terrains as well as an even bigger map size not present in vanilla AoE II
AoE II DE is a from the ground up remake of the entire game including soundtrack and so on. (hopefully contains all the DLCs from AoE II HD)
o, thanks
Its okay I don't think you need to feel guilty about playing what is arguably the best rts ever made
Is the AI gonna be improved? The target acquisition and pathfinding are kind of dogshit at times, and when combined with the lack of attack moving it feels really clunky to play AoE2 compared to modern RTS games.
trying to move around large numbers of units near other large numbers of units has always been what "took me out of the game" and infuriated me when the units made god-awful movement choices. I hope that if anything they fixed the movement AI, but I saw no mention of improved AI in the trailer so I will have to wait and see before getting it
I feel like this isn't necessary given that HD is pretty well made as it is, however I would never turn down another Age of Empires 2 so long as they don't try what they did with Age of Empires 3: Trading Card Boogaloo.
hopefully they fix the big issues of the game. instability after 30-40 minutes w large armies or amounts of players, no real attack move (its in african kingdoms in a way but buggy as hell), those are pretty killer. thats all I really want. attack move was put into aoe 1 hd iirc.
Still waiting for Rise of Nations Definitive Edition
Is this the one with the female peasant chick in it that goes "prostagma?"
Actually nevermind that's Age of Mythology my bad.
my biggest hope for this is that the multiplayer isn't so god damn laggy.
ok where's age of empires 3
I thought that came out with the cannon shooty tricone dudes.
Yeah the lack of mentioning it has me slightly worried, they might wanna go for keeping the "authentic, classic AoE2 feeling" which means not updating the engine limitations of those times (which would be a huge missed opportunity, IMO)
Yeah, the comp scene is on Voobly with the compatibility patch for HD. It doesn't lag but you're basically playing the old version.
I think it will be better? It should be similar to AoE:DE but I haven't played it so I am not sure.
