Instead of 'Believe' from Halo 3 it's 'Hope'
This is the most hype I've been for a Halo in a long time.
the way they're actually using the old themes unlike halo 4 and 5 makes me pray to fuck they've gotten martin o'donnel on board somehow
How does one fill 6 minutes with so little substance?
>Halo "Infinite" >Trailer ends after 5:57 Not a good start
Devs pumping out so many games from single franchises they forget which number they are on. Be like Valve. Don't go beyond 2.
That was the second half of Microsoft's conference in a nutshell. They started out strong, and then just unloaded a whole bunch of pre-rendered cinematics with zero gameplay. (Well except for Halo Inifinite, which was seemingly in engine, but still a cinematic.) When are the game corps finally gonna realize that we aren't impressed by that shit anymore? Especially given how fucking misleading they often end up being? Case in point: Halo 5. The entire marketing campaign was a lie. They are going to have to show something of substance before I get hyped. Because 343 industries has yet to prove they are capable of making a good halo campaign with a good story.
I like that the Pelican is the OG Pelican with the original cockpit and everything.
I wonder if they'll give us a half-believable explanation for the new-old art style, the way they did Chief's suit in 4, or if we should just pretend that things always looked like that.
The Bootup code for the armor at one point says Modifed by Halsey with the date being listed as 3 years after Halo 5's events so I think it's safe to assume this is meant to be either a new armor or old armor that's been updated to modern standards.
Let's just pretend that chief was in this armour since 3 and it's a re-retcon
I noticed that, bringing back the good pelican, thank god.
I highly appreciate all of these E3 reveals but all they do for me is increase my desire to see more gameplay.
Haven't they mentioned this will be a "soft" reboot? As far as I care it could be canonically Halo 4, I'd bet you could either discard 4 and 5 or fit them into its timeline and it would make as much sense either way
They're referring to Infinite as a "spiritual reboot". From a post on Waypoint: So with that immense responsibility in mind, we are building what we internally refer to as a spiritual reboot, a game with a vision set firmly in the future, but a foundation rooted deeply in the things our team and our fans have fallen in love with – the scope, the scale, the heroism and the moments of spectacle and wonder that brought players together on couches, at basement LAN parties, on Xbox Live and in esports arenas for years. The new design for the Master Chief is, by far, the highest fidelity we have ever created to leverage the power of next generation platforms, but with a design that is Master Chief to the core and takes inspiration from the past, with color and texture and detail unavailable to us till now. This same attention to our design for the Chief is true of everything in Halo Infinite. You can see examples in the interior of our UNSC Pelican, the design of our pilot, and even details down to the UNSC logo on his flight suit. Halo Infinite is intended to embrace all that our fans have grown to love in our franchise, while evolving it to something even more visually stunning for players. The universe will continue the continuity of Halo 5 and in that sense contain the adventures that led up to this moment, but in the pursuit of our “spiritual reboot” and the launch of a new console, we also want to make sure that this is a perfect starting point for new players too. This story will mark the beginning of a new chapter and challenge for the Chief, but it will also respect and continue threads that led to this point. If you’ve never played a Halo game before, this will be a great place to jump into the story. You’re arriving in the middle a universe at war, with a sense of history underlying your entry into the world. But it will also feel fresh, full of potential, and new adventure. We will weave in context and guideposts to understand your place in a new universe. But if you’ve invested in Halo for all these years, you’ll feel immediately at home – and some of our story moments will spark a different resonance for your investment.
So is this going to be on the new Xbox or both Xbox One and the next one?
Story-wise it's definitely continuing after the AI rebellion at the end of 5, you can see hints of it in what Chief's visor says as well as the weird dialogue Cortana has at the end. But you can feel the devs don't want to be super-strictly awkward about it, at least not in this trailer.
I don't know how Cortana is even an enemy in this now, she's got the right idea and we're stuck having to stop her? Um, how about, no, I don't want to stop her from doing what she has planned, it's a good idea.
Well she was kind of a psychopathic corrupted yandere "resurrected" from the dead and all, and apparently if this trailer's hints are anything to go by, she pulled a Skynet and kicked humanity's asses. All implications lead toward the idea that it isn't the Cortana we knew, and even if it is, whatever moral high ground she could've had is long gone.
I mean if she doesn't kill everyone then it's all good in my eyes, but if she starts killing because "It needs to be done." then it becomes sketchy as fuck.
It also says it's Gen 3 armor. IIRC Gen 2 was the Spartan 4 armor right? So Halsey got involved in MJOLNIR design and went "fuck that" and threw out the Gen 2 design.

It will be on XB1, Scarlet and PC.
In-lore the Gen 3 Spartan armor was 'in development' and something of a distant pipe-dream by the time Halo 5 rolled around. Which means Chief, Halsey, and the Infinity has had plenty of time piddling around the universe doing it's own R&D not entirely unlike the Spirit of Fire.
