Janky looking RPG but with a lot of depth is always a good sign
I only really got into VTMB properly like last year, or the year before I can't remember exactly, long after it's release anyway, I could deal with the jank in that game just fine and I really enjoyed myself, so if I could deal with that jank, I'll surely be able to deal with this jank, assuming they don't fuck it up, the dialogue choices though are giving me the feeling they won't.
I think they're very early in development right now. I'm actually pretty surprised we saw any gameplay at all, especially 18 minutes, since it was only announced a few months ago. The term 'pre-alpha' has lost its meaning due to overuse, but I do think the definition applies here.
VTMB's combat was absolutely terrible but the rest of the game was so great that it made up for it. Even if the combat in this doesn't improve much, though I think it will, I'm still looking forward to this.
Hearing the guy on the news right at the beginning of the video made me smile, same dude who did the news reporter in the first game
I was expecting janky combat, but man that slow panning low FOV E3 camera and those horrible finishers straight out of 2011 are a bit much.
The visual style looks fantastic but the dialog seems a bit stiff. It's early days I suppose
Atmosphere is completely gone, the dialogue is baby level. What a fucking shame.
I believe he's actually the lead dev guy or one of them, guy with the fingerless gloves. I love how much his voice sounds like Elias Toufexis.
He voiced Romero in Bloodlines 1 too. It also seems like he's voicing Slugg in the demo.
The lack of third person is kinda big blow for me.
I'm sorry, but that fucking dancing at around 70 seconds in made me lose my shit. I understand it's an early build, but holy fuck what is that dancing?
Still yeah, looks promising. I need to get around to replaying the first game again sometime.
The atmosphere isn't at all bad IMO. It definitely evokes a similar feeling to the original and I think it looks good. In terms of the quest itself, I think this was just an example of a small side quest, since this is just an early vertical slice of the game and they probably aren't ready to reveal more. Even still, the quest's writing in the video didn't strike me as bad and there were lots of dialogue options, which is always a plus.
The dancing was really stupid, yeah. I hope they remove that. The animations in general seem to be very finicky right now but I'm sure that'll be addressed.
Speaking of the club though, I am pleased how good the sound engineering was for the club. The walls impacted the club's music very realistically.
