Think of the countless times you've been building a base with some mates and they get off for the night, you want a secure base so you put a turret down (either of the 3) but your mates don't have tool cupboard or turret auth. You have to leave the turret off until they come on and authorize risking your loot in the process. I'm suggesting that some sort of menu like the give bag/bed is added so that you hold 'E' and cycle around to 'auth list' here you can + people by searching for names or - people if you need to. This would be for both Auto turrets and toolcupboards. Just a suggestion but I think it could be a game changer.

The advantage you get by playing as a group far outweight the "disadvantage" of needing to be in game to press E on something.
There's already enough power to groups as is, making this change would be a litteral buff to groups and only groups; 2, 3, 27, a group is a group.
Having to manage who's on and who's not when placing things down, just like having to manage not shooting your teammates in a fight, is an important part of the game.
If however you really can't play without this feature, I do believe there are modded servers with "clans" mod which allows exactly that.

There is a command you can use (don't know if its for admin/moderators or not)
/auth turret <player's name> then hit enter. This will authorize that player on turrets.
For cupboards, you look at the cupboard and type /auth <player's name> then hit enter.
In chat? That's modded.
